brother.. we need to win something to gain attention... Nehru cup, SAFF cup & intercontinental cup (with second string players) is not enough... Should win Asian Cup or atleast we need to be one of the Asian top team...
Till 1983.... For most of them, Cricket is not profession.... Same with Badminton... after London Olympics,, most of the young people looking to excel in Badminton... earlier Badminton is recreation activity..
Also Problem is with our sports culture... In countries like US, UK... there is provision for almost all sports...
and as DX said... we need to choose the proper location...
on top of it... These tournaments needs to be planned in advance for better marketing & coverage... also should plan on FIFA dates.. just think if likes of Victor Wanyama, Winston Reid, Chris Wood playing in Intercontinental cup..
8one’s Flagship initiative, the Young Legends League (YLL), in partnership with the Mizoram Football Association completed its first full season.
YLL has been recognised as India’s first structured football development initiative that coincides with the Baby League Model advocated by the All India Football Federation. The aim is to engineer societal change through the region’s love for football.
This month, 8one came to the end of its first season of the YLL in Champhai. A dream of truly impacting communities by using sports as a vehicle to drive social change, YLL has been appreciated and recognised across India as a first of its kind initiative. The league became the first structured football league in India for children ages 6 to 12. Currently, YLL is being run in a small district within the state of Mizoram. YLL aims to use sport as a vehicle to engage these communities to help address their challenges and truly affect the lives of the communities in these intervention areas.
As a token of 8one's appreciation for the endless support they have received throughout the season, the organisation has released a video showcasing the Young Legends' League Journey which can be viewed here.
Additionally 8one has achieved various milestones within a year, some of which are mentioned below:
The All India Football Federation has recognised YLL as the first formal Baby League to kick off in India
8one's goal of gender equality has got a great boost as one of the girl players in the league is close to breaking into the top five goal scorers in the U-8 age group with over 30 goals
8one has been successful in ensuring that all the players in the YLL have stayed away from social ills to the extent that some of them who had begun these wrong habits have chosen football to continue playing in the league
Within an eight-month period, players from YLL have caught the eye of the Junior Teams of Indian Super League clubs as well as some of India’s best football academies
8one conducted its very first one-day village knockout tournament in order to take football to areas which are even harder to access than Champhai, Mizoram
8one conducted a week long U-12 League + knockout tournament in Bishnupur District of Manipur that witnessed the participation of 160 players
8one supported the North East Youngster Footballer – an annual U-15 tournament that takes place in Churachandpur District of Manipur. This year NEYF witnessed the participation of 26 teams and 442 players
The success of the YLL has prompted 8one to conclude its first season in Champhai followed by a month-long League + Knockout Tournament called the YLL Cup
8one promises to continue to put in all its efforts toward growing the YLL and promoting societal change through football.
