Local league is not the solutions. India having local leagues since ages. We need at least 16 tier national league (ISL with 8 teams ,rest all with 30 teams ) with promotion and relegation in home and away format for 9 months. One Fed cup for all & AFC. Reserve, U-19, U-16, Nursery league for all.
    So (8 X 25 + 15 X 30 X 25) -  (6 x 8 + 15 x 30 x 5 ** overseas) = 9152 Indian professional. (out of 1.5 billion).
Your supply chain is ready. Hope 10 player will play abroad and 4 PIOs will make to NT.
    Thats the medicine. Thats all.
No ornamental tournaments no matter how much prestigious they are. Will wait how long AIFF take to have this acumen and financial power to execute.
    Period.

I still remember Prioranjan Dasmunshi and Rustom Akramav announced in 1993 (or may be in 94) that aim is to have 300 Indian professional footballers. Do we have 300 till date?
Akramav did many good things but will never understand why he preferred Sanjay Majhi over IM Vijayan. India could not utilize IMV 's service when he was at his prime.

  • in the malayalam movie 'Captain' there is a scene in which the coach of Indian team removes the captain's armband from VP Sathyan and passes on to another player and doesn't pick him up for the match. I think the coach is being referred is Rustom Akramav based on the time frame. Did he had any bias towards Kerala players?

Atleast in these Foreign partnership these clubs should seek  training for 15-20 players for around 6-7 months in the foreign country. And some club should try for partnership with Brazilian clubs and send the kids there to play.

Nothing will help Indian football if the league lasts for 3 months and off season lasts over 6 months.

Also I'm kinda on @Deb_Ban boat I've lost all hopes we would do anything better as a country in football.

All investment are financial and nothing much is done to change the structure

Almost 10 years ago when this forum started Indian football lacked hype, players lacked awareness on diet, gym etc, lacked stadiums, exposure but had lot of competitions to play. Today players have good knowledge, decent stadiums, media hype and exposure but lack competition/matches to implement it.

And that really suggests that they have to be brave to step outside India

    It is upto Association.
Hockey India has sent indian womens hockey teams senior and junior all the way to Argentina and Chile to play valuable international matches.
AIFF will not let india play any international friendly game of football even in India. No to hosting friendlies, no to asian games saff games ,no to super cup , durand cup santosh all stopped.

Franchise Circus happens in multiple sports. But only AIFF is one federation which absolutely blocks football activity 8 months of the year. Only ISL nothing else.
