Jamshedpur will see crowds for sure bt there's certainly some dip in popularity as earlier even TFA vs TATA Steel used to get good crowd here when we were kids but nowadays in every nook and corner of the city we find a cricket coaching centre. Earlier there used to be Night football tournaments among local teams nowadays we see cricket, but once we get an ileague club certainly people will start going to the grounds
@Sparta Notice how exactly a year ago people were saying the same thing about Bangalore. I mean, HAL SC could barely get any crowd and I bet no one even knew who they were, not even the Bengaluru FC fans. Then Bengaluru FC comes in and look at them.
So it can be done but you need a dedicated and smart group backing your club and from what I can see Tata Steel seem to be dedicated to football so I am confident in them.
HAL SC also got crowd for that kind of team. Only addition to this team was HAL SC fans + Coll going + Corporate employees. What ever crowd you see from North stand lower and upper from Austin town/near by less prominent areas.
And that is the glory of this. The difference between HAL and Bengaluru FC... the difference between the 2011-12 season and the 2013-14 season. It is just amazing! I was even saying that Bengaluru FC would fail last summer and here I am... proven wrong by a mile! I love it!
Lots of interesting points in this article. Mind you, I think a better question then "Why watch that match at 1 am when an Indian match is on at a more convenient time?" would be "Why not watch both the Indian league and the top European league?"
Kids should grow up watching the best players in the game, we should not tell them not to but they should also be encouraged to support the local domestic league as they are the future at the end of the day and will be the reason for Indian footballs success.
