Mohamedan Sporting will play in next year Calcutta League? it is surprising that they are saying that next year also they will not fulfill AFC criteria for participation in I-League? What is so special on that which they cannot satisfy? I think that it will hold true for every club playing in 2nd Division? Mumbai FC satisfy all criteria??
the only positive i see in these recent history of clubs closing down is that we will be ended up with only 15/16 clubs worthy of playing top football (i-league + ISL) and thus they would merge them and if neede may relocate some clubs and have a proper 8-10 month league...
hopefully we get a clear scene of our game in at least 2-3 years and we got one league to follow...
So MSC folded. Or did they? You cannot wind up a community-owned club just like that. It take years. MSC only said they will not field team in I-League II. In fact, they said they will be back if sponsors come. They did not mention whether they will professionalize (of course, that needs money, too).
I think they are playing on the sentiments of people to get back to I-league.
In my opinion, religion-base clubs have no place in todays's India (please don't bring examples from other countries -- this has been discussed in this forum). So, no tears shed.
And all this is due to bad management; ISL cannot be held responsible in this case, for a change.
@Deb_Ban Clubs can be based on ethnicity, Geographic Location, City, Religion, Financial Status, Political affiliations. We cannot pick and choose that Political affiliation is fine but religion is bad. Clubs like Tottenham and Ajax are Jewish based clubs. I have seen Jewish celebrities supporting Tottenham just because of Religion and nothing wrong in it. same way Catholic = Celtics and Protestant = Glasgow Rangers. India is not on some other planet that we cannot follow examples of other countries. Ethnicity based support is for Mohun bagan and East Bengal also. Left Wing and Right Wing politics also define Barcelona-Real Madrid Rivalry.
Is there any club in India which after winning 2nd Division will be allowed to play in I-League? AIFF seems to have very stringent criteria to play in i-League. Only Businessman allowed by Ambani are permitted to own a club in I-League it seems. So no more 2nd Division.
With BJP Government in Center, any Sports Team with Congress links will not be allowed? Churchill Brothers is from Congress party. BFC also belong there.
