Fine, lets use Chiangrai United, they finished in 7th last season. They currently hold a Japanese player who played regularly for one of the worst J2 teams in the last few years. A 31-year old Brazilian striker that any I-League team could sign, some random Brazilian, and a Brazilian player who played in a few leagues in Europe that any I-League team can sign players from.
Again, I-League teams can make these signings, because we have made them before.
Also please don't compare a particular team's foreigners and say I-League clubs would buy them. There are also World Cup players who have played for the likes of Japan who currently play in the TPL and are paid more than 300,000 USD per year, who would never ever come to play for an I-League side.
To make my point clear, most of the TPL teams 'as a whole' are miles better than I-League sides. Local players, foreign players, facilities, coaches, living conditions are much much better than what you can get in India, and all these things make Thai clubs better than Indian clubs who play in the I-league.
What is wrong with comparing a club that was in the league last year right now? Will they get better foreigners in that time magically? Most likely no.
I will give you the facilities part as the stadiums are pretty good there but some I-League clubs can compare. Also we have had our share of World Cuppers here but ya, I would like to have Teruyuki Moniwa in India.
The reason all the clubs will get better foreigners starting next month is because the number of foreigners has gone down from 7 to 5, which increases the budget per foreign player.
May be the facilities in India now have improved due to the ISL, but the training pitches and player accommodation of the Thai clubs is very good as I have seen both first hand.
as per players profile i league clubs do have good players. but an impressive past cv is baseless unless they perform ( del piero in isl for eg). There are 3 to 4 TPL side which are good enough to beat each i league club again and again. Rest are not. Forget about this week's result, remember chonburi vs eb in asean cup? chounburi was TPL champs that time also champions league runners up. Remember shillong lajong vs phoneix ( aus)? don't say thai local players are miles ahead from indian counterpart. yes there may be a few better players but the number is few. 300000 usd means almost 1.8 cr INR / season. many indian teams can afford that.
