The decision to discontinue the Federation Cup after the 2015 edition is shocking and very difficult to digest. The reason of 15 day tournament is just a lame excuse to find more time for the ISL circus. Why Federation Cup can not be organized along with the I-League with straight knock out matches like Cup tournaments in European Countries ? We can have all I-League teams (as seeded teams) and 2-3 teams from different state leagues so that some 30-40 teams can be selected, 1st Round can have knock out matches (only single leg) between State League qualifiers  and 2-3-4-5-6 teams (depending on the no.of teams in the I-League) will join the seeded teams so that a Round of 16 is drawn strictly on the basis of Lottery (here, even if a Round of 16 match involves Mohun Bagan v East Bengal... be it so). Subsequently QF, SF (both on Lottery) and Final. It will take not more that 8 weekends to squeeze in during the I-League and also matches can be played at many centres (of course that centre has to be one of the team's home) where people who do not often see top Indian teams in action can really enjoy.
There is always a way if you want to do and there is no way if you do not want to do. These AIFF officials are worthless to say the least, only thing they can do faultlessly is to dance to the tune of IMG-R. I would appreciate if fellow members put some thoughts.

With the Fed Cup we also loose one AFC spot for the clubs, next will be I-League. Then IMG can have the ISL franchises in the AFC competitions. I guess thats their master plan for Indian football.

Federation cup should be played knockout with round 16 where I-leagues makes the entry...

If the team is concerned of their main players getting tired let them give chance to bench and reserve team players.. removing them of the calendar wont the solution...

Star Sports has Telecast Rights for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (AFC Region). That Means India - Nepal tie and future World Cup Qualifiers can be shown on Star Network. But they chose not to and we have to beg in front of DD and Nepal streams. I wonder why Star took the rights when they are not interested in showing India National Team!!!!
