@rohan Mohun Bagan AC cannot be sold as it is an fan based club. The football team which is owned by the company (United Spirits + Mohun Bagan cannot remember the exact name currently) will be dissolved and a new company will be formed. So technically it is possible.
Since this news has come out before the election is just to blow away its rivals (Babloo Da's faction). Once the election is over, the two parties will fail to reach an agreement and the deal dies a natural death. But with US looking for an exit, there might be something more to it. PS: The meeting did happen in London.
So there is something to this? I mean, for me, I just want there to be a way to eventually see East Bengal and Mohun Bagan go into the ISL or at least become bigger than what they are because they kinda deserve to.
@rohan be skeptical about it, as i doubt the four officials will agree to the demands such as 70% stake, decision making in manager and marquee. just to name the two of it.
The infamous four of Bagan own 12.5% each of the football team, i.e. 50%. Etihad would also have to buy out the stake from USL. MB cant build a team next season if some sort of deal isnt stuck as USL hasnt given any money since last August and I doubt they ever will anymore!
I expect some formal announcement coming up before their elections. Otherwise, we will laugh our asses off seeing MB members electing officials who cant get a sponsor.
@Sam nopes but I did see in youtube where Focus Bangla was covering this news enthusiastically.
