Regarding BRICS tourney the other country would ask for similar tournament in cricket or kabaddi so they can earn experience... You think bcci woupd accept that?ans is no .. sameway football tournament is a pipedream
At a time when there is a lot of talk about putting a proper talent scout ing system in place, the All India Foot ball Federation, in a first-of-its-kind scouting workshop starting from Sun day in Goa, has failed to strike the iron while it is hot.
By not involving the head of youth development of all I-League clubs who according to an I-League official `has the mandate to scout the best in the country for their cubs vis-a-vis the national team' the AIFF has not only drawn the ire of all clubs, but also raised eyebrows over who are the 28 odd so-called `scouts attending the workshop.
Dereck Bragg, a UK based football coach who helped Portugal during their qualification to World Cup 2010, is scheduled to conduct the three-day workshop.
The participants, according to AIFF general secretary Kushal Das, have been chosen by the technical team comprising technical director Scott O'Donell and national team coach Stephen Constantine.
But strangely , bypassing the norm the list was not shared by AIFF media in its press release. Later, when TOI man aged to get a copy of the same, the names dismayed some of the club officials.
Names such as Alok Sharma, Pari Singh, Sunil Patwal, Manzoor Dhar and Saikhom Singh who are all part of the AIFF list of scouts -there are ten SAI invited candidates apart from AIFFs 18 member entourage -left them amazed.
“I'm not sure who they are. Apart from the former national team players, youth coaches, have every right to be part of the workshop. But I want to know the criteria of selection of scouts,“ Mandar Tamhane, chief technical officer Bengaluru FC told TOI when apprised of the development.
“I feel such a unique workshop could have had our youth development coach es to stay on the same page and maintain the synergy ,“ he added.
“AIFF stresses on scouting all the time and we are told to do our job properly,“ East Bengal's head of youth development Sujit Chakraborty said. “But in a workshop for the same we are snubbed and on top of that there are names who I really don't know on what basis have made the cut.“
Sporting Clube de Goa's Victor Fernandes added the club was not intimated of any such workshop'. “Probably they will hold one later for I-League clubs but as of now we know nothing of it.“
Other than the names mentioned above, former India players Samir Naik, , Noel Wilson, Mahesh Gawli, Narendra Thapa are also on the list of invitees.AIFF, till Saturday, could not confirm the final list though the initial list states 28.
Abhishek Yadav, director of scouting, is also a part of the workshop along with U-17 World Cup head coach Nicolai Adam and U-19 India coach Lee Johnson.

ASPL: this is being sheer unprofessional on part of CMG. While I understand about the license fee, the time for asking it is funny. Also funny is the lack of agreements with the teams. leaving 2/3 of the gate money to the cubs is OK, but what about the telecast revenue? It seems CMG haven't done proper homework before launching it, or are being too greedy.
No wonder PLS in Bengal by them didn't take off at all (they auctioned the teams and players yet couldn't finalize stadiums).
