I wonder how they will select 2nd Division clubs?

1)How many clubs will each state send?
    2) Last ranking club of Goa, Calcutta will be better then top ranked club of UP, Gujarat, Rajasthan. There is lot of disparity in that.
    3) Each state only one entry for 2nd Division?

Each state can probably nominate a team(s) but only if they pass AFC criteria will they be allowed in.

Narendra Modi proposes BRICS football meet

Ufa (Russia): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday proposed a BRICS sports council with football meets, and suggested that the first football event could be held in India, which is to host the next summit.

Addressing the BRICS plenary session here, Modi also proposed setting up an agriculture research centre.

"A BRICS sports council should be established. Football meets should be organised. India could host a football event next year," Modi said.

I think Modi loves football otherwise why does he want lower ranked India to play against Brazil? Whatever be the case the next 8th BRICS summit will be held in New Delhi. If Brazil and Russia do come with their senior football teams and if they do have a yearly BRICS tournament then that is good for Indian football isn't it. Modi is not that stupid he knows there are age groups teams. And by the way this will be a good practice match for teams such as Brazil and Russia playing against each other.

Won't happen! Brazil Russia and Chinese FAs don't give a shit to Modi. We should try for age group teams from these countries for a BRICS tourney.

@Cybertron Such talks keep on happening as Memorandum of understading that countries will cooperate in arts, culture, music, dance, history, education, sports but unless some Associations are taken with them and sign any agreement, such news do not have any value.
In the past, manmohan Singh was PM and he also signed declaration about india helping Brazil in Cricket and Brazil sending Football coach to India. Kuch Hua???
Unless you seriously involve AIFF or FIFA, nothing will happen.

Agree with everyone, this Fetish for making Big bang announcements are not really meant to be seriously taken. What would have helped, if Brazil top academies had been requested to adopt an academy each adopt an Indian academy. Also if 20-30 top youngsters in India every year can play in even in the lower leagues of Brazil and Russia, that would have gone a long way for India. But ofcourse that would have meant accepting we suck at football, have a defunct national federation and need serious help, not inline with our 56 inch chest image.

Modi doesn't give a shit about Indian football. Modi is only concerned with political affairs and strengthening India's international image. Anyways, the BRICS summit will be held in India. He thought this will be an icing on the cake.
He is only concerned with promoting investment in the country and bringing these teams also brings some amount of money into economy.

People of Brazil love their football. Russia is becoming big in football. SA is decent. China is growing. What is the only common thing between these countries: FOOTBALL. Standards may vary though.

    In short, its all POLITICAL.

If you look at the big picture, even sports is BUSINESS. Deal with it. Passion is OK. But, look at the bigger picture.
