We all knew he was at Venlo is some capacity, I just doubted the fact that he was head coach cause there was barely any record of that. In the end someone showed me a page which had him as a caretaker for Venlo for only 2 games.
He was a trainer and he coached for 2 games after Jan left for Japan, that is all I got. Everything else about his Middle-East run just says that he was "coach" but nothing specific.
Besides former Indian National Team Captain Shanmugam Venkatesh who has been roped in as Assistant Coach, Daniel Darrel Deigan will be in charge of fitness, rehabilitation and injury prevention. Furthermore, Rogerio Ramos, have earlier had stints with Goan Clubs in the National League has been appointed as the Goalkeeping Coach.
Deigan, an Australian by birth has a Masters Degree in strength and conditioning and is a “young energetic sports scientist.”
“He has earlier worked in the A-League with Clubs and is an expert on strengthening, conditioning and rehabilitation which I am very much into as a Coach,” National Coach Stephen Constantine told www.the-aiff.com. “It’s important to plan the diets and the eating habits and at any given time, the Player needs to be aware of the colour of his urine and what it actually means.”
“Football is all about detail and someone who pays attention to it is required. He will add something to the National Team which it never had and it will have its impact, both in the short term as well as long term.”
“Rogerio have earlier worked with me as the National Goalkeeping Coach in Sudan and also in Cyprus. Obviously he is known in India and had worked with me during my first stint in India,” Constantine echoed about the new Goalkeeping Coach.
“He is someone who knows his job and gives everything to the Course. He will be the first to get onto the pitch and the last to get off it.”
Rogerio Ramos was a long time Brazilian Goalkeeper of Goan club Vasco SC. Even when he was playing as a player in NFL, he was many times called during National Team Camps to assist as Goalkeeping Coach. I remember him in NFL in 2001-2003 period. Interestingly in those days, there were many Foreigner Goalkeepers. Liberian player Sunday Seah was there who used to play as GK in 1st half and a forward in 2nd half. :P
@Ashlesh we used to have better foreigners technique wise in those days.
Believe it or not each generation of Indian players degraded till very recently due to a lack of proper youth development structure. This allowed SAFF rivals to catch up while the South East Asian teams enhanced their standard.
