@Dhritiman7 Its an initial reaction. Its like what happens during the World Cup... people act like they care and they do care but then once it is over those same people dissapear and go back to their sports.

My flatmate knows only one Indian footballers name as he is a TMC supporter, today morning he asked me about Atletico, ISL, I - League, Salt Lake Stadium .... an immediate impact, what do you say?
its an AXE effect or probably ADDICTION..... anyway ISL is completly glamourous football world so it is bound to attraction..and cricketers actors were involved so expect cricket fans too will see this tournament....i think its worth to give ISL one chance let destiny decide wat it hold for indian football....

I am not going to judge anything now, that would be too soon. If some random dudes start taking interest on ISL or Indian football that is not bad I think.

Any way its not about good foreigner playing in India, once youngsters start playing in good foreign league Indian football will automatically elevate. Thats what I believe.

  • I fail to understand how ISL will develop Indian Football. Guys, plz answer my doubts.

    1. Are ISL teams going to open academies and develop U-16 or U-19 players?

    2. Are ISL teams going build their own stadia?

    3. Is ISL going to let know the normal Indians what football culture means/ or what is football passion/ or why most people consider football is a matter of life and death?

    4. Is ISL going to spread all over the country including small towns?

    5. Are those ISL teams will be allowed to take part in AFC Champions League?

    6. Is ISL going to let know their fans that there is another league already existing in the country from last 18 years?

AIFF desperately needed financial support for its Lakshya 2022 project and 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup. IMG-Reliance gave them advice about starting a IPL-style football league.

I doubt ISL teams will participate in AFC Champions League. For that they will have to follow rules laid down by FIFA and relegation of teams etc..

Maybe corporate sector wanted their own football franchise or team which would give them excellent financial returns without any rules and regulations from FIFA. Indian Super League is a private matter for development of football in India.

Now why would top industrialists such as Harshavardhan Neotia and Sanjeev Goenka would invest in ISL when there were already successful clubs in I-league such as East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Bengaluru FC etc? Business is all about taking risks, investing money where financial returns are guaranteed. They saw what IPL can do to generate money among Indian sports fans so they decided to take the plunge as usual.

Its a Sham, How can you expect the bid winners to develop Infrastructure and have youth academies setup when you actually play for two calender months? Football is never about making money and very few in the world would do so.

    intresting SRK isnt bidding
  • I am happy about ISL selecting Kochi franchise. Football Fans & Players in Kerala were desperate without a I-league Club.
Now some players would get chance to show their talents.
