According to The Telegraph there won't be any open bidding for players in ISL like IPL..Players will be selected in the Draft System..Can someone explain this MLS system a bit??..I'm too tired to read it in Wikipedia

The ISL system I am guessing will be way different to the MLS draft. The MLS draft is only for college players and free agents. We have 2 drafts right now. The MLS Re-entry draft and the MLS SuperDraft. The Re-Entry Draft is basically for players who were released by their teams but still had a contract with the league (the players remember sign with the league, not the team) so this is their chance to find a team straight away. The draft order is decided based on how each team ranked the previous season... so the winner of the MLS Cup, Sporting Kansas City, picked last while DC United, the last place team, went first.

Not many players are choosen this draft. Then the SuperDraft is for college players... mainly ones who have completed 4 years of college soccer. This is basically their way to get into the professional soccer world. Team order is the same and all that and this draft goes for 4 rounds. Teams can trade their picks for players or money.

The ISL Draft I am guessing will be way different and could actually feature many drafts. First, I am expecting bidding for the marquee's at least as these guys can't just be "drafted". The draft will probably be done according to the roster rules. So a separate draft for foreigners with nine rounds, each team getting one pick. Then a separate draft for Indian U23 players, again, each team going once per round and then a final draft for the rest of the Indian players or perhaps 2 separate ones for national teamers and non national teamers.

So, to put it into perspective, this is what I think will happen based on the roster rules:
    1) The Marquee Player Auction. 8 players being bidded on by the teams.
    2) The Foreigner Draft. 72 players being drafted for. 9 rounds with each team picking once per round.
    3) The Indian International Player draft. However many internationals sign with the league being drafted with each going once per.
    4) The Non-International Draft. All the other players over 23 players being drafted.
    5) The U23 Draft. The U23 players being drafted with each team getting one pick.

Ok thanks that would help..It's still not clear how the ISL System would work..Even Sourav Ganguly said in an interview that players from Atletico could come on loan..

Atletico Madrid's youth players more likely. I doubt we will see names like David Villa though as he would probably prefer more professional and real leagues like MLS or other Asian leagues or Mexico even.

Just when we are looking for better talent in the I-League, The Africans have found a tournament where they can earn more by playing just 2 months!! Just a Stupid Stupid Tournament. Am sure there will be cheerleaders and Film stars dancing (Salman & Fake Football fan Ranbir springs to mind) for each goal.

Wonder who pays they cheerleaders if there is a Nil Nil draw :)
