Following a career that began with his formative years at Real Madrid, which included first-team appearances between 2003 and 2005, Borja Fernández has played for Mallorca, Real Valladolid and Getafe in two spells either side of a season with Deportivo La Coruña.
33-year-old midfielder Borja has now announced via his Twitter account (@BorjaFF), that he’s opted for a new and different adventure in his footballing career, having announced that he’ll be moving to the newly founded Indian Super League, where he’ll join West Bengal based franchise club, Atlético Madrid Kolkata, who are partly owned by their Spanish counterparts and La Liga champions.
Well Atletico are serious and professional with this..and have the necessary expertise..For others, well this is what happens when a CA and actor team up to buy a football club! Was reading Srinivas Dempo interview in Goal today..Seems he has no clue that franchises can sign foreigners outside the Draft..Expected better from them atleast..Similarly haven't heard a thing from the guy who wanted to make Delhi Indian football's DEN or the 45 year old virgin passionate about football..Better they do something this July or scrap the league and have Atletico in I-League
Scrapping the league is no solution to this. It will degrade the image of how the country percieves football. Dont know. I heard somerhwre that the teams with final players will be ready in 2 weeks time. Lets hope for positive outcome
