Okay, getting back to the actual GOOD players we could sign in the I-League... going back to the A-League... Stein Huysegems is now available on a freebie after leaving the Wellington Phoenix. He scored 10 goals in the A-League last season and at the age of 31-years old his experience could be valuable to a few A-League clubs.
Pune FC could use a guy like this as it looks like Pavlovic will be released at the end of the season and Pune could use an experienced forward who knows how to find the back of the net. Considering he played for Wellington last season I doubt he would cost a lot, probably around Ozbey and Odafa levels but he would be worth every penny.
The other player that is now available from the Phoenix is Leo Bertos. The 32-year old can play as a winger and attacking midfielder. 56 caps for New Zealand. He barely played last season due to injuries but he could make a comeback in the I-League and prove to be a valuable asset to a few clubs if they are willing.
I don't think it is out of the ralm of possibility. The I-League transfer window comes with surprises every season. Guys like Carlos Hernandez, Simon Colosimo, John Johnson, Rohan Ricketts etc would never have been thought of, of coming to India back in 2011. Yes, there has been mixed success with these guys but whatever, the point is that the I-League clubs are signing players we would never have thought would come to I-League only 3 years ago.
