Agreed they haven't won the I-league ever..but the avg villager who plans a 3hrs joruney via a Shmo to have a drinking day out in Shillong and catch a game wants to go home and say he watched Lajong beat East Bengal. ..not Salgaocar. ..
Dempo game gets better crowd than Salgaocar...sometimes it depends on who is playing for the opposition.
This year there game vs. BENGALURU will probably be a sell out
Don't know what nonsense agenda @Shakeer has ...that is just some random picture....nothing to do with BFC !!
That might be a picture of work at the JSW steel plant in Vijaynagar where they are building a training centre...can't see BFC driving 6hrs to train there !!
Thats good news. I feel happy. Sree Kantareeva Stadium has Floodlights and it can accomodate good crowd, even 20000 or so. BFC will increase their Ticket Revenue. India defeated UAE 1-0 there in WCQ at that ground. and by 2017 JSW will build a modern Football Stadium plus they will utilise pricey Bangalore Real estate around the stadium. All parties satisfied.
The telecast deal for the I-League and Fed Cup ends this season with Ten Action. I was hoping that IMGR would force I-LEAGUE telecast in the ISL contract with Star Sports. But we know what their agenda is.
As gaffer mentioned, franchisee will want to come in if there is a good telecast deal among other things. On the other hand good telecast deal will happen of there are good franchisee teams. Sort of a catch22 situation.
What AIFF should do is clearly spell out their franchisee plans before hand and include a clause so that for the clubs are forced to spend a fraction of their budget on promotion of their matches/teams in local media.
The second division league should not have taken place at all in this season at least as it severely complicates the matter. Or the AIFF could have made it clear that there would be no promotion from it, although Draconian, could have made things simple. But then I think AIFF is not sure whether any franchise will come in or not
Stadium is being knocked down after last I-league game. Next season BFC will play ISL in Kanteerava and also their I-league matches at Kanteerava for next 2 years They will show FIFA this stadium and the architects plans. Inspection team arrives Monday
No one knows how many teams in I-league next year. ..not even Sunando Dhar.
So wait, corporates want to actually invest in ISL? Do they not know how this league will be ran!? If they go through with this then it is proof that they are 100% in it for the money than the football.
I am all for starting a franchise league and I have called for it since I started to come to this forum but the format/direction the ISL is going in will kill Indian football and the I-League, our shit son league.
Seriously, why the fuck can't we just do what Japan or Australia did, go on hiatus for a year and restart the I-League with new rules and regulations!? Why can't we try to do something positive in Indian football for once?
Look at Japan. They saw a shit, amateur product and revamped it... and look at them now. Australia. They saw how shit the National Soccer League was and went on hiatus and restarted with the A-League. Sure, they may not be amazing but they are sure ahead of us!
You know what the problem is? The people. The people who run the AIFF are brainless and have no future thinking skills. The people who support the teams. We treat the I-League as if it should be the fucking Premier League... no... it is the I-League. I dont give a shit if the play is not as quick as the Liverpool-Hull City game, deal with it! And the people who own the teams... running the teams like shit, and then saying that they are spending crores upon crores each season... REALLY!? Wow, you really put a lot of money into your team, that must explain why they cant even fucking make it into the AFC Champions League or why Indian football is still as shit as it is!
Indian football will never get better. We will never improve. Why? Because we are ran by idiots with no vision and no brains. This is our downfall.
Well, I think the officials lack vision and boldness to send I-league into hiatus. They will also have to answer people for ACL slots etc, plus they simply are not committed and have the guts.
Instead, I would prefer a gradual change – induct a few teams, do some rule changes, get a better coverage deal, induct more teams, make some more rule changes, get an even better telecast deal, and so on – but do it in a transparent manner, keeping all stakeholders (including the fans) in loop.
Catch 22 situation? Yes, but someone has to break it. And you can break it only if you have a vision. Sell the dream. Sell it to a TV company. After several iterations, you are bound to start getting results, albeit slowly.
