@Deb_Ban ha ha That is a whole new level of tournament. Everytime I listen to any news on ISL, it reminds me of the movie "Karthik calling Karthik". Everything is imaginary there.
There is no harm to restart traditional tournaments. Clubs can give exposure by fielding reserves, but our clubs specially Kolkata clubs want to win every tournaments they participate and field their best 11. That is how players get tired / injured and don't improve due to fatigue. It is all about right attitude which you can't inject to the club officials.
Spain , UK, Italy all have many tournaments and they are managing them successfully.
These traditional tournaments can be a good test for new foreigners as well as U-21 players. Sadly nowadays our clubs do all the experiments during I-League. I-League is the place where clubs should field the best XI - nmot for experiments with unknown foreigners.
The trend is slowly changing. Pune FC and Bengaluru FC already do this for state league tournaments while the Goan and Kolkata clubs are slowly getting the picture as well.
We still need a proper calendar... no point in all these tournaments if nothing is organized.
It would have been great if TFA was playing in far more competitive environment than Jamshedpur. Went to see the local league and the new TFA kids were dominating the match n were in opponents half for most of the times. Opponent teams had players from local colleges and almost no one had formal training. Crowd something around 800-1000 for even local TFA matches.
I hope Cyrus Mistry (who became the new chairman of Tata Group) should consider an I-league team from Jamshedpur. It will be a strong team with young & fresh TFA recruits. He can take inputs of this venture from JSW group Bengaluru FC team.
