good job bro... "I have been a big fan of Pereira since his Mahindra United days" and u have covered almost all the points...

He started his coaching career with Salgaocar youth teams..

Eelco Schattorie  - might be good option ... He was able to motivate an under par side punch above his weight

Attractive style as well and has a good eye for talent given the way the new centre back performed yesterday...
Will be within the budget of AIFF as well for sure and he is interested in the job. Has coached in India earlier as well...

Surely better than habas or farias .. And no for Erickson as well...

Derrick Pereira did not have much success with DSK Shivajians and may well be appointed as Technical director
    Floyd Pinto - assistant coach
    Bibiano - Indian arrows & Ind u19
    Venkatesh Shanmugam - India U16

Head coach - Sergio Lobera or Eelco Schattorie or Albert Roca or Akbar Nawaz

AIFF ‘meet’ with Roca sparks coach talk

Panaji: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) may have wished to call it a coincidence but a ‘chance meeting’ with Albert Roca has sparked off speculation that the former Bengaluru FC coach is leading the race to succeed Stephen Constantine.

Constantine quit as India coach after the heart-breaking lastminute loss against Bahrain in the Asian Cup 2019 when the team finished at the bottom after being in a commanding position all through the tournament. Since then, several coaches have inquired about the vacancy, and even though the AIFF has not started the shortlisting process, Roca’s meeting in Bengaluru has fuelled the speculation fire.

The AIFF, on its part, said it was not a planned meeting.

“Roca had come to watch Bengaluru FC. I bumped into him as he came for lunch when I was checking out (of the hotel). We exchanged normal greetings and nothing else,” a senior AIFF official told TOI when asked about the meeting in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Even before the ‘meeting,’ Roca’s name has been doing the rounds for some time now. The Spanish coach has many admirers in India and his name was suggested as an alternative when five senior players told the AIFF they were making little progress under Constantine. Roca has even found favour with Football Sports Development Ltd (FSDL), the influential marketing partners of the AIFF.

Roca is currently in Bengaluru and will watch the crucial second-leg semifinal of the Indian Super League (ISL) between his former team and NorthEast United FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Monday.

Roca left Bengaluru last season after helping them win the Federation Cup (2017), Super Cup (2018) and a final appearance at the AFC Cup, Asia’s second-tier club competition. In his two seasons at Bengaluru, Roca had a stellar win ratio of over 60 per cent.

Another former Bengaluru coach, Ashley Westwood, who was favoured by the AIFF to take over before the technical committee sprang a surprise and backed Constantine in early 2015, also remains in the mix.

Westwood was hugely successful with Bengaluru, guiding them to two I-League titles in three seasons. But since leaving the club in 2016, his record with Penang FA in Malaysia and ATK has left a lot to be desired.

The AIFF will formally start the process of selecting Constantine’s successor in the next 48 hours by releasing an advertisement. The federation has already received more than a dozen applications, which includes a coach who managed a team at the World Cup and also won a continental championship.

Shyam Thapa reveals sad state of Indian football

The Indian football team is without a coach ever since Stephen Constantine quit after the 2019 Asian Cup in UAE in January. While one would have expected the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to immediately advertise for the vacancy, IANS has learnt that there has been no such effort from the federation.

The window for national teams to play international friendlies opens from March 18 and will continue till March 26. After that there will be another window again from June 3 to June 11. This apart, there are also FIFA international friendly window/World Cup-Asian Cup joint qualifiers from September 2 to 10, from October 7 to 15 and November 11 to 19. Despite such a big calendar, no effort has been made to fill up the boots of Constantine, a coach who took Indian football to new heights with some quality performances and substantial rise in rankings. Interestingly, the process of selecting a coach starts only after the advertisement. While the AIFF is initially expected to short-list a few prospective candidates, the final call must be taken by AIFF's technical committee.

Speaking to IANS, technical committee chairman Shyam Thapa not only confirmed that no such process to appoint the next coach has started, but also said that the committee isn't consulted when an Indian coach is considered. "For Indian coaches, the AIFF itself settles the issue. For Indian coaches, say for U-15, U-19 etc, they hardly ask us. They decide it on their own. Only in the case of foreign coaches, for senior team or junior team, the AIFF consults the technical committee," he revealed. Thapa went on to reveal some more details that doesn't augur well for Indian football. "There will be three or four men who will discuss the details of the foreign coaches, their age, background, achievement, etc. I don't know how this process works because they do not feel it necessary to consult us when it is a case of Indian coaches. "Only for foreign coaches they consult us, but that too after shortlisting three or four coaches," he revealed. "The AIFF will come up with two/three names and discuss their credentials and finalise. We don't even have the CVs of the short-listed coaches." Thapa had put his foot down in the last meeting and said that the process cannot work any further. "In the last meeting, I asked them to send the CVs of all the short-listed coaches, to all members. The AIFF has agreed to this. And you see, that should be the procedure. Unless, we the technical committee members get to know the credentials of the coaches how can we discuss," Thapa concluded

Most probably it has something to do with Sports Ministry too.

Our Men's Hockey team is also without Coach and without League (HIL).

Salary for such high profile positions come directly from them / SAI.

I wonder what policy this government has acquired now as many federations, be it Wrestling, Boxing, Athletics are struggling to get Foreign coach or training assignments sanctioned !!!

Everything has become IPL /Masala league model while national team has been compromised.

Already established sportspersons are getting private sponsorship but upcoming / junior will get screwed with this policy.

Even National Games are stuck since 2015.

SC came long time ago though. That time they were quick in finding replacement for Koevarmans.

Lets hope Derrick / venkatesh carry on for some time atleast in the initial phase of WCQ starting this September.
