@reddevil87 This industry was setup by British. The Football used to be hand-stiched with material like Pig Bladder and Buffalo leather. You wont find Buffalo skin/leather in Kerala. Thats why Punjab was made the center.
Hockey sticks were made with Kashmir mulberry wood so Jalandhar, Sialkot were world suppliers. Now new Hockey sticks are hi-tech and made with Carbon, Fibreglass and Kevlar with Nano coating. So China has come up as Hockey stick suppliers as they have modern equipment. Our industry is still old fashioned labour intensive.
@munna219777: Thanks for providing the info. I was aware of Scotland (and Edinburgh) being associated with Burns and Sir Walter Scott, not to mention Holmes, but I was not aware of Edinburgh having such a rich legacy. I would definitely want to visit it some day. BTW, as I told you, I had visited London, Cambridge and Oxford while pursuing my PhD and was impressed by the work culture and professionalism at those places. People in India tend to be taken in too much by the razzmatazz of the West but they could do well if they took a leaf of of their books regarding these aspects.
Continuing with the topic of fishes in this thread: 1) Steamed Hilsa (Bhapa Ilish-East Bengal fans swear by it) VERSUS 2) Chingri Macher Malai curry (Bengali prawn curry with coconut-to Mohun Bagan aficionados, nothing comes close to this)
I read an interesting fact on Wikipedia. Owner of JDT, Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has served in Indian Army and led a mounted cavalry in Republic Day parade in 2007.
NDA in Pune, IMA, Officers Training Academy, Defense Staff College in Wellington keep training officers of Friendly countries. Normally these people go back after training but sometimes, for political reasons and symbolic gesture, special people like Prince of Bhutan or this Prince of Malaysia (Owner of JDT) are given honorary ranks after their training got finished. I dont think that he will be actively serving in Indian Army like other normal people.
