You are right. His name was Majid Bishkar--it was mispronounced to the more so-called homely Baskar when he came to play in Kolkata. See this:

@Deb-Ban: I guess you are referring to Moti Nandi's Striker and Stopper; they have already made their India debut courtesy the noted translator--and novelist--Arunava Sinha. They have been translated as 'Striker, Stopper' published by Hachette India in 2010. You can read it, at least a part of it, in 'Google Books'. Don't worry about the 'The Transfer Saga'; it will soon continue.
