Very true, Dev...But it is not as dark or pessimistic as his last novel, the dystopic 1984. I remember the literary critic Harry Blamires contrasting its fairy tale, fabulistic elements with 1984, where the "monochrome relentlessness" lends a "certain sourness" to the text
@dev_pfc Animal farm is really a very good read. But the torment is in answering the essay-type questions attached to it. I somehow survived ICSE English because my school chose short stories (which have reference to context mostly) over Animal Farm while a number of my friends toiled out pages after pages writing answers of novel-ish length.
Wow, Animal Farm in school/college? Sometimes,I wish I was in an ICSE school. Read that book last year only. Also,people should read the other book by George Orwell "1984". Quite apt in corrent context
