Chandigarh snatched an exicting 1-0 verdict against West Bengal in a Group A fixture of The Coca-Cola Cup U-15 Football Tournament at the CuncolimFootball Ground in Goa today.
Udeyveer Singh scored the all-imporant goal in the 16th minute.
Goa suffered their first defeat, going down to Chandigarh 1-2 in the 36th Sub-Junior nationals for Coca Cola Cup, played at Trinity grounds, Benaulim on Wednesday morning while West Bengal thrashed Meghalaya 5-1 in the match played at Cuncolim grounds in an evening match.
Goa, who lost quite a few chances in the first half, paid a heavy price as Chandigarh came up with late goals to score a marvelous win. Chandigarh went into the lead in the 83rd minute of play when Sahib Malik scored a great goal with a stiff grounder to beat the Goa keeper.
Goa fought back and levelled the scores in the 88th minute through Aaron Barreto but Chandigarh had the last laugh as they scored the match winner in the 93rd minute through Manvir Singh to hand Goa a 2-1 defeat.
In the other match held at Cuncolim grounds, West Bengal’s Rahim Ali scored a brace while the other goals were scored by Arnab Negi, Hemran and Abit Mondal. Meghalaya pulled one goal back through M Nanrom.
