I know most of them would be expensive but if could get them for two years just like Robert Baan, it would be benefiting for both parties. India would be benefited because of high quality that the coach would bring into Indian football. Also the new coach, because India would great launching pad for him, if succeeded it would boost his resume as he would be able to convert a low graded team into high graded team. On the other hand if failed, he always has the excuse of the low quality.

<div>True. BTW did anyone ever think of Louis van Gaal. Maybe Robert Baan could persuade him to join India at Senior Level. For people who dont know Louis van Gaal... <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_van_Gaal"; onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_van_Gaal</a><!-- m -->

all those coaches discussed here would be a bit too expensive to be afforded by aiff other the few exceptions like adelaide united coach and may be ajax youth coaches might be affordable for for the federation

Was that an sarcastic reply ??? Dude you talking about hiring someone who has coached Barcelona and Bayern. He would take no less that 3-5 crores annually.

We shouldn't hire such coaches unless we are top 10 in Asia, cause money invested would not yield any results as our base is weak.

our national team and u-23 needs a top club's youth team coach who knows how to get the basics of all players correct and get the best out of them
just take the example of indian hockey only, they selected micheal nobbs who lacks much top class coaching but had been under ric charlesworth for sometime which means he was the one who trained australian team , so it was like a cheaper buiy for the team and also results are good enough to feel happy as well

so my go would be a youth coach who worked under some top coach (like a avb who worked under jose)before he also makes a big name of himself

Yes I was. Do you honestly think that I would think we have a chance to get Gaal. He is probably getting offers better than us already.

I still stand by either Colin Toal or Thomas Rogdan.

what about Graham Roberts -the nepalese coach. Nepal played beautiful football in SAFF cup .I watched almost all nepal's matches other than india's.nepal's main problem was lack of quality strikers. Roberts knew that nepal players with their low physique - short passing style was the apt one.some one coaching pailan arrows should understand this thing
These days, u could see a no. of matches of pailan arrows telecasted , but iam sure one wont watch it after the initial 10 to 15 minutes.Who would care to watch a one sided game with less possession for arrows , even if they win somehow. We want not only our national team to win , but also play some eyecatching football & give some entertainment. If roberts could give results with comparatively less qualtiy nepal players ,iam sure it will be a much easier task for him with the arrows players

ALSO WATCH OUT FOR NEPAL IN THE AFC CHALLENGE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then, Samson Siasia who took Nigeria to the u20 world cup finals. May be we could get him after PLS - but I dont know if its possible or not as he is contracted for 3 years in PLS. If PLS is successful , he may wish to continue in India thereafter .And he could be made part of our youth development program.

Thing is Roberts would only come to India to be the Under-22 coach. We need someone better than him for the Senior Team. Plus we need a under-22 coach now! Roberts wont leave Nepal. Sure some could argue that based on certain interviews that he would leave Nepal in a heartbeat for India but I doubt that. He might have been a good choice though. Plus how do we know he can do well at the under-22. South Asia is one thing but under-22 Asia is another.
  • So just reviving this thread because surprisingly there is talks of the India vs Malaysia match and who would coach in that game. In my opinion we should just send the under-22 squad to play Malaysia. Good practice but that would mean finding a new coach.

Now I am expecting a huge clearout of the Air India FC players as they dont get payed and I expect guys like Manandeep, Sandesh, Collin etc will be offered good money elsewhere. So why not the AIFF poach Santosh Kashyap of Air India. The club wont be the same next season and will be sure for relegation so why not.

Santosh has shown he is good with kids. Sure he is not 100% responsible for the Air India youth development but he has coached them and coached them well. I believe the under-22 kids would love to learn from him and would develop under him as well.

So what do you guys think. Santosh for India U22?
