I personally doubt that the supporters of teams like South Korea etc will be following Indian football and certainly Guam football.
I feel should and could win by a margin of two goals.Robin will be important today due to his physique.
I also feel Robin as a player is slightly underrated(he gets slightly less credit for what he brings to Indian Team).I am also not a huge fan of Robin but he certainly allows a different dimension to Indian Team.
See,Indian team is not brimming with talent. If we looked at basic attributes required like speed, skill, understanding, passing, technique, stamina, strength etc than our players on the whole would be close to 4/10.
Robin is a target man(not a finisher, not a passer). It is to be noticed here that our midfield isn't blessed with speedy players.Even Chhetri ( our best player of past 20 yrs) does not have great speed. thus Robin is not able to bring others into play.(not his fault entirely.) I am sure with age on his side and with time when he play with some younger ,upcoming players like Rokeo,Udanta,Uttam,Brandon etc he will be more useful. He is important cog in the team as against South Asian,East Asian countries he provides India with added height advantage and against West Asian countries he reduces their height advantage. Except for Sunil(No one in the attack or in the midfield has a specialised attribute like speed, stamina, passing ability, finishing, creativity etc ) so play Robin( Height,Strength)and Sunil(Ball control,Finishing) till we incorporate younger players in the national setup. I seriously think by next year or Saff cup we need to look at players like Romeo,Milan,Bidyananda,Brandon,Myron,Udanta etc as this current team is actually not good enough specially midfield to be a consistent less than 100 rank team which I think and be the minimum requirement for country like India(Huge population and good fan following)
We are sort of caught up in a procedural warp. SC would not select players who haven't played enough for clubs; clubs would not play the so called 'child prodigies' as they have paid crores to senior players out of their asses. So the likes of Bidyananda, Romeo and Brandon have nowhere to go. The I-League will close down probably in a couple of years which may be for the good as ISL teams are more likely to give these younger players regular playing time provided it expands itself both in terms of team numbers and duration.
I expect only a draw..Guam is quality team....4 mls players playing for them and their strickers and defenders are exelent, they have the ability to hold oman.........
I feel India should be winning this game Hand's down.If we can ' t get an outright win against Guam than we don't deserve to play the Asian cup.We won 4-0 against them on a neutral ground with stalwarts like Lenny,Francis still in the team.(I feel that was the worst Indian Team in last 10 yrs) than I feel we should be winning this match with a much improved team and quite rightly, improved attitude. I am banking on Robin today to score minimum 2 goals today ( yes minimum 2 goals)
