"Referee or match comissioner's report has got nothing mentioned against Westwood. Besides, there's no video clipppings as well. So we can't do anything about it "- Sunanda Dhar
I-League: Bengaluru FC coach Ashley Westwood apologizes to Mohun Bagan gaffer Sanjoy Sen
The Manchester United youth product had questioned Sen's credentials as a coach a couple of days ago.
Bengaluru FC head coach Ashley Westwood, who had questioned Sanjoy Sen's 'history as a coach' after the Blues' recent encounter against defending I-League champions Mohun Bagan, has now apologized the former United SC coach about his remarks.
"Much has been said after the game against Mohun Bagan and in retrospect I would like to apologize to Bagan head coach Sanjoy Sen for a few comments that I made with regards to him at the post-match press conference. I respect him as a fellow coach and for the work he has done with Mohun Bagan and would like to state that in no way were my statements meant to come out the way they did," Westwood's statement released on the club website read.
Sen had claimed that Bengaluru FC players conceded the goals in ‘excitement’ and Westwood responded saying, “I am not concerned what he says because I do not value his opinion. He doesn't have a history as a good coach. So why should I listen to what Sanjoy Sen says?”
However, the 39-year old has called up the former Mohammedan Sporting coach and has apologized personally.
"I have called up Sanjoy and personally apologized to him over the phone yesterday (Monday) and as a true gentleman he was very humble and accepted the apology and I believe we can move on and have a good race for the League title as competitors and friends," the statement further read.
