I would have been more interested if you had mentioned a young indian player to watch out for

If Sporting clube de Goa happen to loose or even draw today's match, against Ar-Hima later today then its most likely they will have to say goodbye to their i-league div1 campaign.I hope & pray for a favourable result for sporting today.

Interview of SCG President Peter Vaz to goal.com
Irrespective of the result, the
President said that he is keen on
building a full-fledged new
stadium.
"Let's qualify first," said Peter
Vaz. "We need a win at all costs.
We're still trying to build a
ground with our own facilities
against all odds."
He further grieved over the
ground conditions in Shillong,
where the final round of the I-
League Division II is being
played.
"The grounds in Shillong are so
bad. It rains over there and the
water-logged situations makes it
difficult to play, but this is Indian
football."
Joseph Pereira's injury has ruled
him of the crucial match, but
Peter Vaz believes the
performance of the foreigners
will be vital..
"Joseph Pereira's injury is a blow
to us, but in the end the team's
performance depends more on
the foreigners. If the foreigners
do not perform, the team does
not perform in Indian football.
"Churchill or East Bengal are
doing well because their foreign
players are doing well. Mohun
Bagan's foreigners are not doing
well, so they are struggling."
Peter Vaz also praised one of
Sporting's junior players Jovel
Martins, who has been promoted
to the senior squad, for his
contribution in the team's
second division campaign.
"Our Under-19 player Jovel
Martins is doing really well and
credit must be given to our
scouting system, that helps us to
come across such talented
youngsters.
"Most of our players have their
contracts intact with the club.
Most of the side has been
retained and we'll look to make
some additions if we qualify," he
concluded.

"The grounds get mucky and
water logged. Sometimes it
keeps on raining for over an
hour. You can imagine how
much water is accumulated, ”-Alex Alvares SCG coach in goal.com regarding ground conditions in Shillong.

“It’s a miracle.
We rose from the ashes, so as to
say. Justice has been finally done
after the great setback of last
year. We regained what we were
forced to relinquish. The feeling
is great, ” commented Peter Vaz
from Shillong after Sporting
Clube de Goa regained the I-
League position, Saturday.
“ I have to thank God for the
great miracle. Soon after the
victory, I dashed to the church to
give thanks. I see God ’s hand in
it. In painful moments I had trust
in God. In difficult moments I
sought God. And in a happy
moment like this, I praise God.
Every moment I thank God, ” said
Peter when asked for his
comments.
“ The first three matches were
almost a disaster. We drew the
first, lost to Vasco in the second
and then drew the third. But the
boys regained the lost ground
with aplomb and went on to win
the next four matches on-the-
trot. Unexpected, isn’t it?,”
remarked the president.
“ The boys knew that we had to
record victories to stay in
contention. They believed that
they could win. So, they went
that extra mile and made it. They
played with a passion. While all
the boys exerted themselves to
the limit, I cannot underestimate
the labours taken by coach Alex
Alvares and his assistant staff,
Pascoal Pereira, Levino Anthony
Pereira and manager Anju
Albuquerque, ” conceded Peter,
who had already started the
celebrations in Shillong tonight.
While Peter will be arriving on
Monday morning, some players
will arrive on Monday evening
and the rest on Tuesday
morning. “It’s a long, long
journey from Shillong to
Guhuwati to Kolkata to Mumbai
and Goa, ” remarked Peter as he
signed off. But, soon he called
back and said: “Please register
my sincere thanks to all the
football fans, supporters and all
those who have supported us all
these years. ”
