Yesterday's results: Iraq 2 - Afghanistan 1 South Korea 3 - Australia 0
Today's matches: Malaysia vs Thailand 2:00pm Japan vs Tajikistan 6:15pm
It will be a vital match for the hosts to seal their place in the quarterfinal as they lock horns against neighbours Thailand before they face the mighty Japan. Malaysia will miss their first choice goalkeeper who received a red in the previous match. On the other hand it would be a do or die encounter for the Thai colts. Player to watchout for would be Malaysia's Luqman Hakim who had four clinical finish against Tajikistan. Tournament favorites Japan would also like to book their place in the quarters without further ado.
So there are 3 lines of speculation doing rounds here: 1 The simplest, Danu is injured. 2 The diabolic, Danu is 19 year old. An age cheater and therefore a criminal also. 3 The complex, AFC rules and AIFF mismanagement. Is there any other line? Well I can invent one myself, Danu got fed up of his compatriots(sick Indian football fans) and changed his nationality.
It's all rumour right now . I guess due to our highly competent AIFF it has happened so stop the mudslinging on that kid. I hope he gets to play future tournaments and atleast he should be inducted in Arrows project.
Yesterday's results Malaysia 2 - Thailand 4 Japan 0 - Tajikistan 0
Surprising result as Tajikistan were able to hold the fort against Japan. This leaves the whole group wide open. Now even Tajikistan have a chance to make it to the next round. Both Thailand and Malaysia will wish to win their final match whereas a draw will be sufficient for Japan.
In today's encounters: India vs Iran at 2:00 pm Jordan vs Oman at 2:00 pm Indonesia vs Vietnam at 6:15 pm North Korea vs Yemen at 6:15 pm
It was an upset for last year's runners up Iran as they went down to Indonesia 2-0. Playing on wet pitches seems to not be the cup of tea for the Asian power house. But by now they must have already accustomed themselves to the conditions. On the other hand it's more than just 3 points at stake for India, it's more than mere pride. It's time for them to take revenge. Revenge for the previous batch, revenge for the senior side, revenge for the Kabbadi team. India will again be relying on their captain Vikram Pratap to score goals. But can he become the Fazal ( Gangs of Wasseypur) for India?
