Chennaiyin FC is delighted to announce that they have signed six graduates from the AIFF Elite Academy. Goalkeeper Samik Mitra (16, West Bengal), defenders Joseph Sanglura (17, Mizoram) and Lalliansanga Ralte (18, Mizoram), midfielders Zonunmawia (Mizoram) and Bibin Boban (Kerala) and forward Bawlte Rohmingthanga (Mizoram) have all signed long term deals with the club. Chennaiyin FC co-owner Mrs Vita Dani said, “We would like to congratulate Mr Praful Patel, Mr Kushal Das and their whole team for the fantastic work they have been doing at the AIFF Elite Academy. Last year we signed five graduates from the AIFF Academy and all five have shown great improvement over the last 12 months with Jerry (Lalrinzuala) and Anirudh (Thapa) also going on to play for the India senior team. We thank AIFF and hope to continue the development of the boys in the coming years.” AIFF General Secertary Kushal Das said, “AIFF’s structured youth development and the Academy programme has been the supply line not only to the Senior National Team but also to various Indian Clubs. The trend continues as Chennaiyin FC have now signed six of our Academy cadets. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours and also thank Chennaiyin FC for showing faith in our cadets to help them mature into better professional players.” Chennaiyin FC technical director of youth development Sabir Pasha added, “They are all teenagers but at Chennaiyin FC age has never been a hindrance. The door is open to each one of them to stake a claim for the senior team. Our head coach John Gregory will be following their progress closely.” Mitra, Sanglura, Boban and Rohmingthanga have all played represented India age group teams in various international matches while Renthlei and Zonunmawia are part of the current India U-19 team that is preparing for the upcoming SAFF Championship and Asian Cup qualifiers.
Thursday, 31st August is going to be a very interesting day in transfer market not just in world football but also in Indian football, as Kolkata giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan would be literally on tug of war to sign Mohammedan Sporting right full-back Sheikh Faiaz who impressed one and all with his consistent performances in the Calcutta Football League this season.
It is learnt that both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan have already spoken to the player with an interest to sign him for the I-League. Faiaz too confessed the matter to www.xtratime.in and said, “Yes, I have offers from both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan for the forthcoming season but I’m yet to decide the club I’m gonna sign for.”
The Red and Gold brigade are also trying their best to recruit their sixth foreigner for the season, as they are in a fix to choose between Honduran midfielder Marcelo Espinal and Bostwana international Ofentse Nato. Sources told XtraTime, that they will come to a decision soon to complete their team build up process.
I don't have any Idea about Sheikh Faiyaz's signing. If MB sign any new player generally they announced it on twitter but I found nothing on their official twitter account.
'right full-back Sheikh Faiaz'???????? Faiaz is a winger/attacking midfielder, for God's sake.... Xtratime reportage is taking it to a different level altogether
https://ebela.in/sports/nato-is-out-of-the-race-ridiculous-decision-taken-by-east-bengal-club-dgtl-1.666634?ref=hm-new-stry Ridiculous! East Bengal does not agree on a deal with Nato because they claim they do not know when the I-League would start...did he refuse to pay cut money to the Nitu-Alvi combo? Not that I mind not taking Nato...I am in favour of a solid striker...the 'goal blind' Plaza and the WWE wrestler Charles do not give me much hope...but I think they would settle on Espinal
