If ISL is made the first tier league, and if the franchises want AFC spots, they'll have to play 7 Indians. I don't know how many foreigners can be registered though; but the number will decrease. Then they must be able to afford marquee players!

That 3+1 foreigner rule is only for AFC matches

How can the qualifying tournament for the AFC tournaments have a different rule?!

The rule is only for AFC tournaments & not for national leagues.

8 foreign  players are still too much , 5 wouldve been ideal.

Yes when you have adequate rest between matches what's the use of having 3 foreigners on bench?

3+1 mandatory for AFC matches alright, but where does it go if my club plays the league with 8 foreigners (or a zillion), and then qualifies for AFC tournament? How would be the team combination? So it would be only too sensible to have the AFC rule for the league as well, to develop teamwork. This not even considering the higher cost of more foreigners for the league.
