Pune FC won nothing... never made fibals of Fed Cup or Durand Cup or IFA Shield...

They spent Crores to achieve mid table mediocrity.

The only thing they ever won...was youth football events...with ridiculously overage players...

The coaches like Ranjan Choudhary and his cotterie of coaches ensured that some players played U19 i-league well into their 20's.

Bharat FC were the 2nd biggest joke in Indian football....only slightly ahead of Maharashtra counterparts DODSAL aka Mumbai Tigers.

PUNE and football just don't go together...
It a like trying to create a market for Kabaddi in Aizawl !

  • WIFA is home territory of Praful Patel.  Will they be happy with no Mumbai / Pune team in this I-league ??

@Deb_Ban A club from kerala for I league has been a long wait and a happy moment for us but as you said,I am still sceptical about their Intentions, their name says it alot.unless they change their name to more regional centric, as elsewhere they can't connect with those fans in the long run.Hope they change their name.

  • Gokulam fc can easly survive because of the local support and can earn some revenue from additional spornsership and ticket sale, All other clubs from kerala like Viva and Fc Kochin failed on this matter. The reason is only one thing. All others are located in Kochi, but Gokulam in Manjeri,

Whatever people may say, the bottom line is Pune FC achieved nothing during their existence.....whether it was due to Derek Periera, location of their home venue, Pune people not being keen follower of Football.......quality of players/coaching staff, Chirag Tanna..........can be debated upon. But having achieved nothing most football followers were not disappointed to see them go.
When Mahindra left....we missed them because they were achievers. When Dempo, Salgaocar or Sporting pulled away we missed them for the same reason. Thus unless a team builds a reputation (just as BFC did in such a short span of 4 years) no body will care about them.
I have nothing personal against any team from Pune especially Pune FC but over the years I got convinced that Football & Pune don't gel too well. I will be happy if in near future I am proved wrong & a team from Pune emerges & start performing ....till that happens Pune remains a underperformer in Indian football.
By the way less said about Bharat FC & DSK the better.

A team from Pune can be successful... hell, I believe that football can be successful anywhere. It just needs more time than places already established.

More I see teams from Pune try and fail the less am convinced about the city.

Its a graveyard where it needs work from competent people to market your club.

Blaming Pune people on failure of the clubs to connect properly is not right. Any new club keeps on doing the Same things again and again.

I also dont like the fact u need to have immediate success to bring in fans, If that's the case then those fans are fickle and will not come the moment you are struggling in the league. It also proves those fans are fake.

However knowing u need a lot of work to do to bring people why try the same path? Why not try to got to unacharted territory like Nashik or relative towns?
