I don't see what's the problem if people do their chores as per local time. How India is different from other big countries. And how this be a threat to national security.
@Deb_Ban ; It is not that straightforward. Even in western countries with different time zones, for example in USA, many things work according to more dominant Eastern Time Zone (where New York is). One Example:-A friend of mine was due to make a payment in Texas (Central Zone) which said before midnight on a particular date. He made payment on 11:15 PM which was declined saying that midnight means Eastern Time midnight -in your area you should have been done at 11 PM to synchonise with Banking HQ which is in New York. If a Post Office accepts Next Day Delivery at 4 PM in New York, it will accept it at 3 PM in Dallas in accordance with the national system. All TV programs also change the hour and also become late or early. Many offices like Financial, Insurance or TV channels will change the working hours so that they will synchonise with more dominant Eastern Time zone.
Even if Eastern zone in India make their separate time zone, all key offices and establishments State Bank of India or Railways or Post Offices or Fort William/BSF or any wholesale market or even TV network will again change their time to Allahabad timing to synchonise with rest of the country. People will again go to offices in darkness only. If a train departs Howrah Junction at 10 PM, it will not do so if it was a different time zone, it will adjust and depart at 11 PM then-it will again put people at same misery. Do you think that any wholesale trader will close the office1 hour early then his counterpart in Delhi Bombay? Or will he open 1 hour early when his counterparts are not open in Delhi Bombay? He will prefer darkness instead of loss to business.There is more economic loss with delinking with rest of the country for 1 hour then benefits. Unless whole Eastern area becomes a separate country, the so called perceived advantages are futile thoughts.
