Four floodlights have been installed in the Mohammedan Sporting football ground...the officials wish to inaugurate them on 22 February officially.

That is their intention according to their report. They wish to replace the grass with synthetic turf

great too see all big 3 of Kolkata have their own ground capable of playing matches. I hope this trend continues to all clubs / franchisees in India

Maidan grounds can at best be great training venues for a top club. Very little chance of them getting any top matches till major restructuring happens e.g 4 months each currently being shared by CAB/BHA/IFA

Right. Only galleries, floodlights and a jacuzzi ( ) will not do. The list is long: 100% bucket seats, two practice grounds, gym, a host of other rooms and spaces -- ref' room, dope test room, press room, dressing rooms, not to mention cafe, sale counter and so on. Oh, and a standard sized field as well.

None of the Maidan arenas have space for that (forget budget).

IMO, they should make a single stadium with a 25-30k football stadium with couple of practice pitches and other amenities, just like Eden Gardens. All the clubs can share the stadium.
