It’s just a case of KCA corruption. They can earn a lot of corrupt money via commission for contracts for each and every stuff - ground, pitch, electrical, food, water. All these contracts and subcontracts will come with commission which will swell the purses of KCA office bearers. Also, if they employ 10 people for a work, it’ll become 30 people in the books. The money for the remaining 20 people will again to these corrupt morons. In Trivandrum stadium, they cannot earn this commission as there’s hardly any work to do.

As for charges, both GCDA and Greenfield charge KCA the same amount for using theIr respective stadiums.

  • @munna219777, yes GCDA is the owner and KCA has the taken over the stadium for lease. Now what @athi_bheekaran ; has mentioned is also correct. KCA deserves the rights to hold the match in that stadium. If we listen from mind, then KCA is correct as they have paid the money. If we go by heart, then we feel for KBFC. The catch here is that, FIFA laid that newly turf which is of international standard and it will be a hearbreak to see crikcet pitch here and there wasting the effort of the 1 year of hardwork.
Now KCA is pressuring the govt to give them land in Kochi for building the cricket stadium.

    My view
Should cricket matches be held in kochi?
Yes, but not in JLN Kaloor stadium. I don't mind KCA building their own stadium even though Kochi is congested city and it will lead to environemtnal degradation. Anything for good of football. Also it will be difficult for malabar region cricket fans to travel to Trivandrum. Also people living in Central region will need to travel to Trivandrum and they will think that if Trivandrum has kirket stadium so should we.

Should Greenfield Trivandrum only be used for cricket?
No. absolutely not. This was bulit as a multipurpose stadium by complying with FIFA,ICC standards. We have seen SAFF cup held here and T20 vs New Zealand. Even Virat Kohli was full praise of the venue. Since, the turf has not been laid by FIFA, let them do whatever they want and prepare a decent football pitch just in time for any footballing action.

    #KochiForFootball #TrivandrumForCriket is good ?
No. Every sport should coexist in one region peacefully. Also Trivandrum has enough football fans.

    What should KBFC Do?
Build their own football stadium in rectangular shape like Southampton, Sunderland, Everton etc. Also what they can do now is hold their home matches across 3 venues Kozhikode,Kochi,Trivandrum so that they can cater to all fans.

Actually I would say it's not the cricket stadium that we need in Kochi .. considering the shape of JLN, what we need is a football specific stadium.
In the case of JLN, KCA has a 30 year lease agreement with GCDA and they pay 10 lacs per year and additional 25 lac for matches since 2010. And there is a clause that says The priority will be given to the more important event to be held. KCA have hired staffs to maintain stadium and they pay a hefty sum around 25lacs/year for it. Current status of practise pitches built for U17 WCs will show us what will happen to JLN if KCA withdraws from lease agreement. Only Maharajas stadium is in good shape as the maharajas college maintains it.

And it's not that easy for KCA people to do a heavy corruption as they just got their funds cleared few days back after the lodha clean up. And they had to appoint an ombudsman.

  • But now that Fifa has laid down the pitch so let JLN belong to football for time being. Neither KBFC or KFA has funds to construct the stadium.
KCA and BCCI can build a new stadium as they have lots of money at their disposal. Let them build a new stadium so that football is not disturbed at any cost. Then football cricket fight is avoided in this way.

Now the other problem is coming from athletic federation. There is enough space for events like jumping to be held outside football pitch.

If no Cricket then there has to be athletics... space should not be wasted. Anyway campaign should be against the inert KFA...because they are the real culprit..!!!

The shameless politicians! they took a century to light the grounds, and yet proudly flash this as an achievement.
