I was in Udaipur Rajasthan for a week. I was surprised to see a number of Football grounds and Craze for football in the villages. Kids just want to play football not cricket. There are some serious developments. Once Confirm i will share with you guys.
There are few more grounds sadly i dont know how to upload 360 pictures here.
@7negi Is that Zawar Mines ?? This used to be Hindustan Zinc Limited - Government PSU. The stadium used to organise national level football tournaments. Township, school, stadium used to be good & active.
Governemnt privatized it to Vedanata Group and it has gone into decline.,
Are they organising any Football activities there ??
Good job @7negi for covering this forgotten part of India. Yes the Hills used to cover with people during that tournament. Mohan Kumar Mangalam was India Minister of Steel & Mines and in his memory this tournament was held since 1975. In its heydays, Hindustan Zinc Ltd was a very reputed Government PSU and used to recruit Footballers. Teams used to come from far-off places like Bokaro, Assam, Tamil Nadu - mostly PSU teams. Zawar Mines used to declare half day holiday for the employees for the matches. Ever since Vedanta took the management, the area has suffered decline although I am happy that atleast the tournament is still continued. The alumni of Zawar Mines school went to IIT, USA. I will try to catch some old pics from them.
