I hope that they do not damage artificial turf.

  • Any updates on Bombay's Cooperage Stadium???If Mumbai Tigers qualify thru 2nd Division, It will be absurd to see Mumbai FC and Mumbai Tigers playing in Pune as no ground in Bombay.

  • That one in Vashi?? I hope they do it.

    father agnel ground

Now Indian football clubs will start playing in school grounds.Such low man.

I dont think Father Agnel Ground is anywhere near AFC Criterion.

  • They could use it as a temporary stadium for maybe a season or 2 but if they need one for longer than who knows.

  • Besides ground/turf, one needs stands, shower-changing rooms, media facilities, rooms for officials, teams. Thats why we have to look towards multipurpose stadiums like Balewadi-Pune, Salt Lake Calcutta or JLN stadium Cochin. We dont want snakes at Kalyani. This season 2012-13 is the worst in my memory in Infrastructure problems. Calcutta, Bombay, Goa failed together this year in providing venues. and the irony is that there is no improvement for even next year also.

Well hopefully Goa will be sorted with the Fatorda Stadium. Balewadi is fine. Multi-purpose stadiums are not bad. Indian football is far away from getting its own football-specific stadiums. MLS waited over 10 years for most teams to get soccer-specific stadiums. It is a long process.

Kolkata is my concern. Salt Lake Stadium is to big, has no seats, the concreate is falling apart, the grass is artificial because the groundsmen are to lazy to maintain a grass-pitch despite artificial turfs being death traps for footballers. Kalyani is to smal, no lights, no proper stands etc. Siliguri is to far from Kolkata.

Shillong's stadium is crap. Same with Paljor Stadium if anyone has seen the stadium on TEN Action. And Duler is dirty as hell and small.

But get ready, we may have to deal with this for a few more years.
  • Yes Shillong and Gnagtok surprise me. Football is numero uno sport there. And now clubs have to rent those stadiums-they are getting some money (Sports Department of Sikkim and Meghalaya). I hope they spend some money on those stadiums.

  • The thing is that the football there is overrated. Yes, the number of fans you get there is amazing but the rest is shit. Stadiums, players, leagues... all shit. People have this mentality where its like "Oh look, they have fans, they must be the next big thing in Indian football." When that is not true.

Paljor used to be brilliant but the Earthquake of 2012 ruined it and United Sikkim nor the state of Sikkim have fixed it. And the Nehru Stadium in Shillong has a good turf but the rest is horrible. Dirt all around the stadium and the stands look like they are dirty and could break at any moment.

The Nehru Stadium has the potential to look like this J. League stadium: http://www.europlan-online.de/files/b59e0b2ba8b1d15335a4d67517ab9da9.JPG

India keeps its reputation, 'Guardian' gloriously covers it. How much more shame will we bring?

(btw the story is way bloated up + probably non poisonous snake, but anyways thats not the point)
