Jay Emanuel Thomas os actually a very skillful player. Great dribbling ability. Plays as winger. Was with Ipswich if i am not wrong. Has played premier league as well
In a landmark deal with Japanese J2 league club Albirex Niigata, Chennai City FC have released their striker Pedro Manzi for a rumoured fee of Rs. 1 crore.
The last time an Indian club claimed such a high transfer fee for a player was in February 2018 when Bengaluru FC sold midfielder Edu Garcia to second division Chinese Super League club Zhejiang Greentown for $110,000.
I agree with you @Ronny. in fact, that was the first thing that crossed my mind when I heard about Manzi's transfer. But the "if" that you mentioned is a big "if". I have not seen today's match but CCFC were not matching up to the standards of last season in the previous matches. If they can get a better striker, they can certainly sharpen their attack. However, the defence is their biggest concern this season I feel and they need to plug the gaps there if they want to remain competitive
One thing that strikes me however (I do not have much knowledge about the J2 League) is whether a Japanese league, even though it may be a second-tier Japanese League, rope in a striker if he is aged/injury-prone?
Many Japanese players who impressed in india were not even able to start in J league 2 and came mainly from J3 or state leagues, eg are katsumi,Taisuke matsugai,Kinowaki,Riyuji,Arata etc

Possibly looks more dramatic and click-bait in Rupee.
