  • Players who signed for East Bengal don't have a choice it seems. All of them has signed contracts with the club and are legally bound to join them.

that will be probably 6 good players and then ppl saying jewel will stay in MB...some say Jeje-Pune FC deal also done...in that case all main players will leave....but after hearing about 1-1 draw against seniors with IA 2nd string team..I am hopeful about the next batch too

Let the players getting regular chance join the clubs,no need to keep them.Aim of Indian Arrows is to develop players and let the development of new players continue

I donot mind ia play in kolkata league as long as all the squad is rotated a bit more. Btw will the players that have left like jeje still play in ia nxt season?

if they play kolkata league, then they need a bigger pool of players....about others playing..nothing is officially announced

Yes, that is the point of forming IA. It should be kept in mind that IA are what they are today not because of playing in I-league; they were formed as U15/ U16 team coached by Colin Toal, and were trained extensively in international tournaments. Nothing to be taken away from Mr Bulpin, but their upbringing was fantastic over a long period and under great competitive environment. That I think is a reason for their good technical quality.

If we look beyond our boundary, IA’s counterparts were continually taking part in international matches, whereas IA were trudging along in I-league, whose standard is not that high (in fact, just before the Qatar match, Bulpin hinted at tiredness because of I-league participation). Simply putting the juniors against seniors are no guaranty of good training. By the same logic, involving them in Kolkata league would be continuing the downward journey. Instead, they should be sent to Europe/ Gulf countries/ Japan or Korea.

But now that they have made their mark, IA should induct fresh talents into the team and keep the supply lines flowing. IA is not merely an I-league team, it’s a development project. New cadets should be given the same rigourous training by Toal for similar long period, and the present batch should be released to play for their clubs.

@above i quite agree to you that cadets should be released but every 2 years. e.g. is there a garuntee that jeje will start every match in pune fc? aiff should tie up with some of the 2nd tier european league club where they can send ia players

Yeah, there should be a retention period to allow a player to get his footing; but I think 23 years of age is kind of right to start an individual journey towards pro life. A lot of international players (even discounting the prodigies like Messi) start at that age. Regarding a place in the starting eleven, only crazy club managements like EB/ MB would think of keeping a Jeje, a Raju or a Shilton out.

I agree with you about tying up with a 2nd division team for player intake. Still a better option IMO would be to make a base in one of the European countries and participate continually in good quality U15/ U16/ U17 tourneys.

    Regards,
