    AIFF-FIFA Academies is a failed project, has not served its purpose. It was supposed to expand to newer cities, instead all into 1 city now and If I'm not wrong Bangalore was never functional and Kalyani was shut down in between.

    I was thinking that these academies will expand and each academy will have batches of different age groups. Instead they are folding up.
    What about Tata Football academy, Chandigarh, JCT academy, Sesa? They are also  becoming redundant.
    AIFF should utilise SAI centers. Army cantonment areas have space for some basic infrastructure. They are just happy with their Business Class air tickets for meetings and whatever coins IMG-reliance throws at them. Rest close down everything.

    They have to start forcing clubs. ..whether Ileague or ISL ones to have year round youth teams...multiple ages. ..
    Instead of having 14 foreigners vying for 6 positions...reducing this to 10 foreigner's will help fund a few age groups...
    or surely Mrs Ambani and her Bollywood friends can fund youth leagues until the 2017 world cup at least !

    @gaffer

    Any idea about ISL clubs plans regarding grass-roots ?? Also what about the U-15 league by AIFF ?? will that be a season long league or just namesake tournament like U-19 I-League ?

    ISL clubs have subcontracted youth development as mentioned before...Delhi Dynamos to BB Soccer Schools...Kerela balsters to arsenal soccer Schools....Chennaiyans to Inter Milan..and so on

    Here are advantage of super academy .

    1) you will get quality teams to play every week out in all age groups which we don't get in mumbai ,kalyani or Bengaluru .

    2) weather of Goa perfect for football .. You don't get much rain like other part .. Kolkata/kalyani used to shut down in monsoon.

    3)Right now we have 5 age group academy in Goa. They can play each others and also learn from each others.

    4) Infrastructure is better in Goa

    There may be some disadvantages of shifting all academy to Goa . But if they able to build proper infra then we can get good super academy where we can have 3-4 practice pitches with proper own gym ,swimming pool .. Earlier AIFF academy were using facilities of others organisation.

  • I have always thought its the responsibility of the clubs to have world class academies. Federation can provide technical know how. When Federation needs to maintain academies it becomes expensive and difficult to maintain..AIFF can have Super academy but regional academies should be maintained by individual clubs

    Clubs have their academies and Youth Program. The level is not very high. JCT had a good academy and many of Punjabi players are products of JCT Academy. Sesa has a good academy. Our clubs are concentrated in East and West part. We nned academies in north and central India to tap talent in those states.
