African players are recognised and included in Top European clubs. Not every player in England is Thomson and Thompson. African players bring different type of skillsets such as physical dominance, athleticism, hard tackling, percentage football, one touch football, no unnecessary dribbling, play the ball forward only. They are not attractive like tiki-taka of Spain but effective result wise. Thats why every top club of the world recruits African players. African or Brazilian players were successful in India because of these factors. By contrast, Bertos or Hernandez or Josh walker, even though from better leagues, are not providing anything useful or different to the teams. Why do we need Foreigner-for something extra. They survived there because of their superior team mates!!! That thing is not here in India. We need somebody to give results, not an extra baggage.
In 2013, East Bengal reached semiFinals of AFC Cup with Moga, Chidi, Orji, sueoka. Previously Dempo reached semifinals in tough West Asia with Beto, Ranty. lets see this time how far bengaluru Fc will go in AFC Cup 2015 with their so called superior league players like Rooney, Walker!!! Results do matter.
"However, it is important to keep in mind that profile is not always the true representation of a player. We have seen few of them like MacDonald Mukansi (‘The scooter’) or recently Rohan Rickets (Mustafa Riga / Alan Gao / Leo Bartos). But some high profile players like Carlos Hernandez, Henry Antchouet, Quinton Jacobs sustained their name. At the same time, some of the best foreigners in India, like Odafa Okolie or Ranti Martins, are relatively lesser known in international arena. So, it is really hard to implement a robust recruitment policy for foreign recruits"

@Ashlesh You're right. No one has anything against African players, I say bring more of them in but I am just perplexed at how these "random" ones who have never played a professional game in their life can just come to India and dominate.
East Bengal had a good domestic team that season as well, you have to give credit to those Indians.
We need to export some youngsters abroad to proper leagues in Belgium or the Netherlands but only on merit, not because they are Indian.
Qatar have sent a few Qatari players abroad and while I am not a fan of Qatar, it is not a bad idea if the players deserve it. We just need to hope we don't overhype them ala Uttam Rai.
