Karanjit Singh: 5/10
Samir Naik: 4/10
Gourmangi Singh: 5/10
Anwar Ali: 3.5/10 - [ *** - LIF's Flop of the Match]
Gurjinder Singh: 5.5/10
Anthony Perreira: 4.5/10
Jewel Raja Sheikh: 7.5/10 - [*** - LIF's Star of the Match]
Lester Fernandes: 6.5/10
Baldeep Singh: 5/10
Joaquim Abrahanches: 6/10
Sushil Kumar Singh: 4.5/10
Substitutions:
Lenny Rodrigues: 5/10
Syed Rahim Nabi: 7/10
Francis Fernandes: 5/10
Manandeep Singh: 5/10
You are bit soft towards the players. My ranking is as follows-
First XI-
Karanjit- 4/10 (Nothing special today. Have you noticed his horrible goal kicks?)
Sameer Naik- 2/10 (seen only to be beaten by their wingers; almost made a sameside goal; in overlap deposited the ball to opponent)
Anwar Ali- 0/10 (Was he there?)
Gurjinder- 4/10 (good only in some cases; can be excused for being a debutant)
Gourmangi-4/10 (not even his average performance; his marking was poor)
Anthony Perrira- 2/10 (Goan Quota, should have been thrown out after SAFF, nothing except a cross straight at opponent GK)
Jewel Raja- 6/10 for first half & 5/10 in second half
Baldeep- 4/10
Lester Fernandage- 4/10 Looked quite nervous. But shown some good touches. May be good in future.
Joaquim- 3/10 in first half & 6/10 in second half
Sushil - 5/10 no support from midfield; tried to come down to take ball but nothing extra ordinary. But worked hard.
Substitution- Francis- 5/10, Nabi- 6/10 (where was there sizzling run?) Lennie-4/10 & Mandeep-4/10
Final Verdict-
1) Use Raju, Arnab and Nirmal Chhetry in defence with Gourmangi. Nirmal and someone from other three will have to play as side backs. Allow Nabi to play in wings to create more scoring opportunity. Send Sameer and Anwar back home. Why didnt Savio give some match Practice to Raju Gaikowad who is going to be integral part of the team?
2) Call Sanju Pradhan and Mehtab Hussain. Send back Anthony Perreira.
3)Need a physical trainer though there is very less time. Take the lession and recruit one for U22 team. Lack of fitness make a player clumsy.
4) The team has the potential to do much better. Joaquim can play with Sunil provided he shows same motivation as he did after scoring the goal. Proper players in defence, Mehtab is blocker, Nabi, Lalrindica in midfield, Sunil in upfront can change the appearance of the team completely. If it was not for our shoddy defenders 1-2 would have been ideal score.
so now we end getting the worst possible result with probably a worst defense and striking team in last 2-3 years against much better team ....but given the reviews ,i feel happy to see the midfielders showing best possible display...which makes me think that we should seriously think of moving to 4-5-1 formation at least for afc challenge cup
I hope this shuts up the people on Facebook who kept on saying that Oman would be easy and that they expect India to win against Oman and tie Azerbaijan. Ya smart people at football.
Savio needs to go. The man is an idiot. Indians can coach at the domestic level. Indians can not coach for there life on the International level, specially when we are trying to improve. Not even Armando. We need a foreign coach. If me and every other person can name a good German, Dutch, French, or English coach who is also affordable for the money AIFF have than how come they dont go after one of them. I seriously want to do the drastic thing and go to Chicago, USA and kidnapp the US Soccer Federation from President to Secretaries (Btw, FUN FACT: The president of the US Soccer Federation was born in India, Sunil Gulati) and then go to Delhi and break into the AIFF house and throw everyone out and replace them with the US Soccer fed guys and force them to work. Sure they dont know India but they would do better than what we have now. I am that angry right now.
This also proves why we need to go Pan-India. We have been staying in Kolkata, Goa, and Maharashtra for over 100 years. WHERE HAS IT BROUGHT US!!!!! DOWN, THAT IS WHERE!
I bloody stay up all night, no sleep, for this match and Savio and the AIFF fucks me over. I hope the AIFF think damn hard and make the right decision. Wake up because let me tell you we are not going to be silent forever.
even one of my friend today told that"india aaj tho aaram se jeetega"(today india is gonna be having a cakewalk)
then i replied that"oman apne se 60+ rank upar hai"(oman are 60+ rank above us)
he with a bit surprise and shock then told me that"jeetna chahiye re kaise tho, "(then we should try to win it somehow)
sadly this is the guy i get close to one who follows indian football <!-- s:angry-banghead: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/angry/banghead.gif" alt=":angry-banghead:" title="Bang Head" /><!-- s:angry-banghead: -->

At least you can talk to people in your state about Indian Football. Every time I even mention India the only thing the person can say is "India, isnt that the country where everyone baths in the Ganges and where there are no cars, its all cows and telemarketers"
Seriously, I have to tell him that no. India is the country with probably one of the best education systems in the world, better than the USA, where most CEOs in the world come from and where the best form of movie making comes from. Oh and did I mention the great economy.

Not just disappointed with the scoreline, but the way we played, too many aimless long passes by the defenders and not enough composure when on the ball.
My Ratings - out of 10
Karanjit Singh: 4 - Distribution was poor, as was his decision making, could have done better on at least a couple of the goals, though he should have received more protection from his defence. The Omani striker - don't remember his name - had two easy, one-on-one chances but fired wide, the score could easily have been 7-1
Samir Naik: 1 - Was simply terrible. The Omani players went past him easily time and time again, can't remember him winning a single tackle, was out of position several times, gave the ball away in dangerous areas, passing was generally bad (apart from one accurate long pass) and kept crossing from deep when there was no one in the box.
Gourmangi Singh: 4.5 - Marking was poor, didn't win enough headers, especially considering the fact that he is one of the taller Indian players, and his lack of pace did hinder him at times, but after the opening 5 mins horror, he did make some good interceptions, esp. in the first half.
Anwar Ali: 1 - A lot has been said about his lack of pace and agility, but how bad was his decision making today? I think one moment in the game sums up his performance : For the third goal, the Omani player went past Anwar and moved slightly wide, Anwar, instead of trying to close him down and prevent him from crossing, decided to let him be and instead went and stood at the near post ??!!!?? Also played 8-10 aimless long balls, when he was under absolutely no pressure.
Gurjinder Singh: 5 - Was Ok, did allow the cross for the first goal and did nothing spectacular but was still quite solid once he settled down.
Anthony Perreira: 4 - Worked hard, but no end product, seemed to run out of ideas in the final third.
Jewel Raja Sheikh: 7 - Easily India's best player. Good first touch, ball control, awareness and passing. Work rate was also good. Seemed to be trying to string together some passes but was let down by his team-mates. Faded away in the second-half.
Lester Fernandes: 5 - Few nice touches though he wasn't great, possibly nerves, but is one player India should stick with because he is one of the few Indian players who has the ability to run at defences with some pace and trickery. Was played on the left of midfield instead of his favourite right side.
Baldeep Singh: 4 - Worked hard but his reading of the game wasn't great....didn't shield the back four as well as he should have...no great passes or memorable tackles
Joaquim Abrahanches: 6 - Was anonymous until his goal...his movement and energy levels were much better after that...took a few shots on goal...his positioning was good for the goal but I'm not convinced he can score regularly at international level...
Sushil Kumar Singh: 6 - Had to come deep to get the ball several times but his ball control was excellent, he and Jewel Raja were the only two Indian players, Oman couldn't easily push off the ball...also, seemed to be aware of the players around him and was always looking to quickly pass and move into space...Sushil has really improved over the last year and with better link-up play by the midfield, could do very well for India
Substitutions: Lenny Rodrigues: 6.5 - I'm surprised by the low scores Lenny has got because I think he did well after coming on....his passing could improve, but his closing-down and tackling were top class....he won the ball back in dangerous positions in the Omani half, high up the pitch at least thrice....was one of the good things to come out of the game...with a little more exposure and experience can do well for us and we need a player like him
Syed Rahim Nabi: 6.5 Provided the assist for the goal...his passing, dribbling and movement were much better than Pereira...also tracked back well to help out Sameer Naik
Francis Fernandes & Manandeep Singh 4 - Didn't do much after coming on
We have to accept the fact that we are light years behind in football solely because of ignorant corrupt politicians running this sport here. This is really embarrassing.
