Yes Jordan is one of the top teams in Asia they have 3-4 American origin Jordanians in the team and all of their players are full-time professionals unlike India.
Even though India lost most of their matches the scoreline shows that India is no longer a minnow at Asian level. That small difference in scoreline is due to most of the teams having naturalized players/Player of Origins.
Once good coaches along with a Professional League comes up we will be power house in Asia.
But still importance should be given to other sports other than Kabaddi (not so famous except India). India manages to win 2 or 3 medals in Olympic Games.
and in any case, there is no harm in promoting traditional sports irrespective of whether it gives olympic medal or not.
I had watched 'Hurling' a sports played only in Ireland (maybe in few others which I don't know). Fantastic game, fast, skillful and a spectators sports. I watched the game in a Irish bar in Spain! There were Irish fans, dressed up in the team jerseys, totally passionate. The stadium was full, and I was automatically drawn towards the game even without fully understanding it. In fact the game and the ambiance left such an impression on me that I thought that next time in India I will watch the finals from a live stream. The players are all amateurs with regular jobs, the league is played for a short time. So, Hurling, despite not being a Olympic sports, was fantastically marketed and had a great fan base and Irish were proud to have a unique sports. I guess some of the sports in US like baseball and american football also has the same model (Specifics will be different of course).
I have played football, cricket, ko ko,table tennis, badminton, volleyball, hide and sick ,gely dunda, kabbadi, hokey, mma, boxing, pro wrestling (acting) and few more
