I have maintained all my life and would say it again,Mandeep is a good striker only when he less time to think i.e instinctive.When he is one on one with goalkeeper or has more time to think he looks very ordinary.Also,his ball carrying skills,ball shielding skills are limited when it comes to really top class teams.Also,he gets bullied off the ball.
Today,our Midfield was was not able to provide to our Forwards (Sardar had a really horrendous game) therefore our forwards had to make the play and Mandeep as usual went unnoticed as usual.
Here is where guys like Nikkin,Raman,Sunil and Akash outshine him.
There is no authority,finesse to his game,like there is authority,finesse, calmness, composure to our other forwards.He looks likes a School boy running around.There is no Persona, Aura,Charisma about Mandeep's game.

By the way, Indian hockey suddenly got lot of fans last sunday after we beat pakistan 7-1. Many cricket fans were commenting that hockey is national game and they will only wantch hockey from now onwards. Lets hope they will continue supporting and watching indian hockey.
National sport is not necessarily the most popular game. Cricket is considered national game in England and golf in Scotland while most popular game is football in those countries. Same way hockey has cultural value for India and Pakistan because of prestige earned by Olympic gold medals. Hockey is the national game of India unless Parliament takes some decision.
