Bajrang Punia Wins Gold in Bulgaria, Dedicates it to Abhinandan
India's star wrestler Bajrang Punia won the gold medal at the Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov tournament in Ruse, Bulgaria on Sunday, 3 March, and dedicated the victory to Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
Punia, a World Championship silver medallist, overpowered Jordan Oliver of USA 12-3 in the men's 65kg freestyle final to begin the season on a resounding note in the Bulgarian city.
However, Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat lost her women's 53kg final to China's Qianyu Pang 2-9 to settle for a silver on her debut in the United World Wrestling ranking series, which is also her first tournament since moving from the 50kg category.
Apart from India and host Malaysia, the other participating nations
are Canada, Korea, South Africa, Asian Games gold medallist Japan.
India,
which starts its campaign against Japan on March 23, will miss the
services of experienced forwards S.V. Sunil, Akashdeep Singh, Ramandeep
Singh, Lalit Upadhyay, besides defenders Rupinder Pal Singh, Harmanpreet
Singh as well as midfielder Chinglensana Singh, who all were sidelined
due to injuries.
The pitches, the bowling attacks, the rules, the regulations, their positions, their team mates, their impact, their roles in the team differ thereby making it more favourable towards Sachin Tendulkar to be honest.
But Honestly with so many important parameters which I have stated the comparison isn't justified.
NOW-A-DAYS, Even Shikhar Dhawan has a better average and Strike Rate then Sachin Tendulkar, does that mean Shikhar is better then Sachin Tendulkar??
Fully agree with @Bad and @thebeautifulgame above. Cricket was different in 1980s or 1990s. It has become a completely batsman oriented games nowadays.
In those days, many one day matches were played in daytime. Fast bowlers used to get help from the pitch in moisture. Spinners used to get help in late afternoon due to old ball and cracks in the pitch. Batsman chasing target were hampered by poor light and lengthening shadows.
Nowadays by the time day & night match start, moisture is gone for any help for fast bowlers, spinners have to deal with wet ball due to dew and fielding side get to deal with insane no ball, wide ball rules plus field restrictions.

Having said that, both of them are champion batsmen and deserves kudos for their contribution to the team and the game of cricket.
