Looks like the youth league organised by Boca Juniors india football school in bangalore has begun. Wish there were more teams; looks like it mainly BFC and Boca Juniors teams. But it is a good start. I have just copy pasted the info from their Facebook page as seen below: -----------------------------------------------------------
The MFAR - Boca Juniors League is up and running! Inaugurated by the legendary and affable Mr U Vimal Kumar (Former national badminton champion, former chief national coach and current coach of Saina Nehwal), the first day of the league saw some fantastic footballing action from all the 17 teams as they played each other across multiple age groups.
While BFC came tops in all their matches, we must say that these are early days and the teams from Boca (winning in the Under 12 and 14 categories), Bangalore Soccer Academy and Christel House would be up to it in the remaining weeks.
Yeah surprised they used that. I am sure there were other options in the city. May be bangalore football stadium was unavailable or expensive for the organisers? But they could have at least gone for a Astro turf.
Anyway just the first year. Hope they improve upon this next year along with increasing the duration and teams
Yep and with Bengaluru FC involved, hopefully it does happen. We need to get to a point in India where the youth teams of I-League/ISL teams (if they ever do happen), as well as the state/regional top leagues, are played on grass/turf... no more dirt fields.
