I-League clubs have been demanding to create I-League as a separate entity but AIFF never agreed. Its also interesting that even though FSDL doesn't do much for I-League, their representative is always present in all the meetings between AIFF & clubs.
Agree with @IndianFootballFan The clubs did reportedly try. Could have done better but they tried to create a unified group. The only other major thing they could have done was create their own league but that would never have helped their cause since the AIFF would never sanction them.
Not sure though if FSDL will run League One and League Two, I think those are still left to the AIFF to run with ISL being FSDL.
But it is true! I heard near YBK in an ATK match evening a girl accusing her boyfriend for conning her into coming to the stadium with assurance that Shahrukh would come! The boy was sheepishly reasoning that nonetheless they could spend the evening together.
An interesting observation: Iceland ranked 131 (Apr-Jun 2012).......23 (Sep-Oct 2015).....34 (Jun 2016) India ranked 166 (2012)....154 (2013)....171 (2014).....166 (2015).....163 (Jun 2016) Remakable rise of Iceland caused by what reason ? Do they have a sort of Iceland Super League & a Roadmap which transformed their system ? Whatever it is.......just amazing rise.
Anyway Iceland proved one thing there is no need of a league setup to improve national ranking, requires only a talented group of 50 players playing in some competitive league.
Even Iceland...a country of just 3.5 Lakh people has a Premier League (12 teams), Div 1 (12 teams), Div 2 (12 teams) & Div 3 (10 teams) with promotion & relegation. They also have Icelandic Cup, League Cup & Super Cup. Don't know if there is any Aunty there also who masterminds everything but one thing for sure they have proved "where there is a will...there is a way". Also don't know if they ever have had a ridiculous roadmap to move forward. Our football loving AIFF officials should be ashamed.
