Karnataka, Maharashtra and Meghalaya registered wins in their opening matches of the Junior National Football Championship for Girls 2015, organised by Goa Football Association in association with the AIFF, and being played in Goa.
In the first match played at Navelim ground, Karnataka got the better of Chandigarh 2-0 with Lerissa Sweety D’Silva and Trupti Gangamma scoring a goal each for the winners.
In the second match played at Raia Panchayat ground, Maharashtra rode on a fine brace by Jyoti Mehra as they blanked Sikkim 2-0.
In the day’s third and last game played at Rosary ground, Navelim, Meghalaya trounced Chattisgarh 6-1. Rushia Dhar netted a brilliant hat-trick for Meghalaya and she was well supported by Nisilia Majaw with a brace and a strike by Aitihum Majaw. Arti Naidu pulled one goal back for Chattisgarh.

The 2015 edition of the Junior National Football Championship for Under-18 Girls, currently underway, at Navelim and Raia in Goa is proving to be a treat for the eyes, with the teams getting more tougher, and the matches more competitive as the tournament is progressing.
The eight qualifying teams after the first round of the championship have some of the best players in the country. As many as 43 girls in the 8 teams left in the fray in the Junior Girls National Championship for Girls have represented India in various age group national teams, and have earned the tag of being internationals.
The eight teams have been divided into two groups of 4 each. Group I has Manipur, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Bihar while Group II has Goa, Delhi, Orissa and Mizoram.
All matches of the quarterfinal league kick off at 7.30am at both the venues, Navelim and Raia, simultaneously. The tournament has seen participation of 24 teams.
