"Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has informed the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) to start the work (on stadium renovations) within the next 5 days. If not, Maldives might still lose the chance to host." - FAM President Ilham Ahmed speaking to Haveeru News today (8-Jan)
This is piece of cake for them. They can just say that they started renovating on the 5th day by sending a painter or two to paint the toilets, which would make AFC happy. By the way, in this matter I see that AFC is supporting Maldives to the maximum to host this tournament. They could have just scrapped them last month for no renovation work but they have extended it like three times.
Ministry of Youth and Sports Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal has told Haveeru News that they are confident of starting the renovation work in the stadiums before the deadline given by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
AFC had informed the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) yesterday (Wed, 9) that Maldives could still lose the privilege to host the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup if renovation works does not start in 5 days.
The 2014 AFC Challenge Cup is scheduled to be held during May with Galolhu National Stadium in capital Malé and Hithadhoo Zone Stadium in Addu City as the tournament venues.

They didnt even start the work till now ...and still AFC is extending the dead line ,to start the work with in next five days !! when will this 5 days get over ??? for every warning FAM will casually reply to AFC that we will start the work on 15th ...which 15th ?? every month there is 15th right :P
