Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal has said that the two stadiums that are proposed to host the AFC Challenge Cup matches will be completed by the end of March 2014.

Minister Maleeh said that they are very confident about hosting AFC Challenge Cup in Maldives and they will start the construction work during the first week of January 2014.

“The upgrading work of the National stadium and the Zone Stadium in the Addu City will start in the first week of January.”
“We are confident that we will have the chance to host the Challenge Cup and we are ready for that.”

Minister Maleeh also said that as planned Maldives will host the AFC Challenge Cup draw ceremony in mid February 2014.

Now it is very clear tht Maldives will lose the chance to host the tournament.. They didnt even start the work till now. " We are confident that we will have the chance to host the Challenge Cup and we are ready for that.” this statement itself is a clear indication tht they dont have any hope
