hmm...slow but steady!
apparently, aiff had this system of limited no. of matches for a player previously too. that time limit was 45 rather than 40. as usual, the morons at the helm of mb n eb are opposed to this decision!!
Both Goa FA and IFA (WB) will oppose this move, read this in today's OHeraldO. If both these FAs oppose AIFF is bound to change the rule.
This is an another glaring example why India cannot improve their standard. i would like aiff to decrease the powers of the state association exponentially.

Impossible to do this in India. You have to remember that these two states have a monopoly on club football. If AIFF act too hard they can threaten to pull out of I-League and start a new league. This happened on foreigner issue in early 2000s when Goan clubs and Kolkata clubs (backed by Vijay Mallya) warned they'd break away from NFL. AIFF had to back down on their stand.
Indian football cant even get sponsors in other states, otherwise Chirag Computers from Bengal wouldnt be going to Kerala to sponsor/buy a club.

I know that they monopolise the club football but aiff needs a good administrator who is not afraid to make decision. Now tell me how much have we improved by backing down to their demands?

Well the problem is that 80% Babus working in AIFF are either from Bengal or Goa.So why would they take any action <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s -->

True..this can never be good for Indian football but can you see a way to change it? For all their initiatives, Pune FC or NE Clubs are still novices when it comes to football. They are still trying to build up fanbases. It will take them years to come in the same level in terms of mass appeal with a Salgaocar or a Mohun Bagan.
