scotland has very small population too... forgot to mention another example.. atletic bilbao... has its own identity.. discriminatory to an extent that they dont sign players outside from their own region... so its worked all over the world, mohammadan just need to get rid of politics and it can go a long way in fast moving world of indian football..
if clubs can be named after family or company names.. why not alongside ethnicity, identity be at national or religious or whatnot.
We should be getting rid of such clubs. Tell me... what league around the world (that was recently a developing country) got successful while having clubs named after families, companies, and ethnics.
Even India's best leagues are getting away from this. Other then Deccan Chargers (now former) noother clubs do such a thing.
perhaps chivas was wrong example because thats a frenchise model example.. but it has worked for them in a way providing hispanics a route into the game... likes of mohammadan are 120year old.. cant be compared to that...

Chivas has not been a direct copy. They tried to adopt the hispanics and failed.
Indians has been a common nickname for years. Its not saying "only Indians can support us."
Korea and Japan have gotten out of it (Korea has actually made it work at sime clubs). Japan was full of them but that was during the amateur era. When Japan could not even qualify for the Asain Cup.
u ask bagan or EB fans.. its about identity, sense of belonging.. same with mohammadan fans i would assume.. look at clubs in israel.. maccabi and hapoel.. workers clubs and religious clubs.. its all about doing the right things and working towards betterment of the sport.. which mohammadan has failed now face the criticism.. if they were the most succesful club and in afc cup.. would u as a neutral indian not back them?
