  • A russian ( I guess so) guy's experience on watching I-league match in Goa..

    Translated using Google Translater

Chose a day, went to the Indian football. Indian Premier League. Championship leader "Salgaocar" against "Sporting de Goa"

When I watched the matches on TV, it was fun. The match was very boring, with one goal, which we missed. Indians as always bundle announced the match at one stadium, in the end, he was on the repair and we had to go back another 40 minutes. The result came at the end of the first half.

Expected more, but it was fun. )

Also players don't have proper contracts and are made to sign other documents to accept lesser pay mid-season !!

This, I did not know. Interesting. Where may I learn more, if I may?

These things are usually not discussed in public. Most of the teams except the corporate teans like Dempo,BFC etc do this kind of stuff. And how can we blame them, the running costs have escalated to such levels that they prefer to show lower spendings to escape being questioned.

As for the corporate teams, they just show this spending as CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) and take the benefits of tax exemptions. So these teams don't care about the official figures as, if its higher its better for them. In fact these teams are losing nothing, but the teams like Churchill, United sC, Md Sp, EB, MB etc are the teams that lose a lot of money. Guys plz correct me if I hv gone wrong anywhere.

We dont have anything against the corporates. But they are doing nothing great. Whatever money they spend, its not a loss for them. They get it back thru exemptions. Its the others who suffer as they have to spend from their own pockets.

When I wrote the above comment, it was about the cash transactions and the lower disclosures. I have no idea and have not heard about contracts being changed mid season. Sorry for not mentioning this in earlier post. What I do know is that some teams dont pay the players the last few month wages when that player decides to switch to some other club, hoping that he will change his mind. But these are small sums and nobody bothers to pursue these cases.

So wait, because a club like Bengaluru FC is not losing money (supposedly) they are doing nothing? First off, Bengaluru FC IS LOSING money. Who is paying for the stadium work? The scoreboard that appears sometimes? The seats? Who pays to take the players on travel? And yes, who pays for the player contracts? They may have ways of not making salaries count via taxes etc but they still pay them and thus are losing money.

As for the other clubs, well, lets be honest, when you think about it, it is Bengaluru FC paying more. Bengaluru FC have invested in a lot, mainly off the pitch while the majority of the league has not. Player salaries aside, Bengaluru FC is definetly paying the price, just like every business in the world.

Definitely they are losing some money, but most of it is recovered through CSR. You know, in India you just require a shrewed chartered accountant. And your job is done and dusted. And if what they are suggesting about crowd figures is true, than they make about 20 Lakhs per home match(2000*500+3000*300+3000*100) .I think that's more that enough to cover up the other expenses.

And for a glogal giant like JSW, whatever they are losing is just a drop in the ocean. We cant say the same about some other clubs.

After 1st loss of the season , a person from management walked into dressing room and asked players ( like Ravanan, Bineesh etc ) to sign a document which stated that they agreed to a pay cut in the region of 20-30%....i.e. negating the pay increase they got for this season....

Local players like Lenny , Jason etc. have no idea of the duration of their contract or how much they are due to get in successive years. All get paid cash and have signed for multiple seasons....no way they can ask Mr Alemao any questions,.,

Lenny is on a good contract. He signed extension of 3 years, midway last season. So is Denzil. Maybe the other lesser known players being arm twisted.  No idea about it. You may be right.

How was this confirmed? By the players themselves? They signed it and now they don't know duration of contract or their terms?
